I wake up in my room and Jayden is sitting in a chair next to my bed. "What the heck happened?" I say and look at him. "You passed out." "Oh. Thanks for bringing me home" I smile. He nods and stands up. "I need to be getting home. Call if you need anything." I turn around and walks out the door. "But- oh yeah." I laugh remembering his number and immediately remember the burn on my stomach Then try to ignore it because the pain is mostly gone. I get up and see it's only 6:00 pm. I walk down the the kitchen and look in the fridge. "Ugh. No food" I grab my phone and dial Sarah's number. "Hey. Want to come to Waffle House? I have basically no food at my house and I'm hungry." I hear her laugh. "Yeah. I'll be there in a half hour." The phone line buzzes when she hangs up. I sit there looking out the window. I think I see something move across my window but I ignore it. "My imagination" I murmur. I walk to my car and get in. "Might as well head over" I murmur. I start the car up and drive off.

I sit in the Waffle House with Sarah and she's rambling on about how her mother is so bossy and won't let her do anything. I nod and pretend to listen. I feel a arm snake around my shoulders . As I do I feel the air change to a weird combination of hot and cold. I see Will next to Sarah and I turn my head and meet ice blue eyes. "H-hi" I murmur. "Hey Froster" I say more confidently. He chuckles and he back up a little bit so there is more than two inches between us. I let the breath I was holding. "Names Jayden, cutie." "Mines Gaia, Froster." I see Sarah and will looking at us confused. "Midori~Chan would totally ship you two right now." Sarah laughs. "I can say the same to you. I gesture to will and Sarah turns her head and is met with will's lips. I laugh. "In your face. That's what you get for shipping me. That's Midori~Chan's thing." Me and Jayden laugh and Sarah pulls away with a red face. "I'm going to get you Gaia!" She growls. She scoots as close to the wall as possible.

I eat my chocolate chip waffle and lick my lips. "Yum" I smile. Jayden ended up getting what my brother usually gets, plain waffles. "Your so boring, Jayden" I laugh. "Well, I don't like chocolate" he huffs. I see Sarah poking at her hash browns and I frown. "What's wrong?" I ask. She looks up at me. "Fire boy. He's being annoying." I raise my eyebrow but brush her denying tone off. "Well then, can't help you there. I got Froster to deal with" I laugh and the air turns colder. "I herd that, Gaia" he laughs and pats my head.
I look at him. "Are you trying to get punched. I mean really." He shrugs and continues eating his waffles. I sigh and my phone goes off. "Ugh. Mum. Excuse me" I stand up and walk outside.

M- Hello
G-Hey, I'm at Waffle House.
M- with whom?
G-Sarah and- a few other friends. Gotta go bye.
M- Wait wh-

I sit down on the bench outside shivering from the cold air. I stare at the sky and suddenly the air seems to freeze. Or is that me? "Hey cutie" Jayden says and sits down. "Hey Froster" I shiver and he looks at me with an eyebrow raised. "You cold?" I shrug. "Why don't you go inside?" He ask me. I look through the window and see will and Sarah laughing. "I think I'll stay here" I look back at the sky. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me closer to him. I end up with my head on his shoulder. This is nice. Just like before. When everything was normal. I smile and then think. "Wait- how did you know we were at Waffle House?" I look at Jayden. "We didn't. We just came to Waffle House" he shrugs. I nod and then see headlights pull up and recognize a black Camry. "Hide. Now. Like, run away, back inside. Now!" I usher Jayden back inside and I follow him. My mum will kill me for having a friend that's a boy alone. I sit back down and the table and keep my head low. My phone buzzes. I look at it.

M-Where are you?
G-We just left.
M-I'll see you at home then.
G-I'm sleeping over at Sarah's tonight
M- be home before lunch tomorrow
G-okay,bye

"Sarah I'm sleeping over at yours tonight." She shrugs and I see the Camry drive off. "Why did your mom drive here anyways?" I shrug. "My parents, mum especially, are overprotective and strict with rules. It's annoying. But I cope." "You know they have dorms close to campus you could move into. That's where I am." Jayden looks at me. I laugh. "As if. I would be dead before my mum let me do that"
An odd silence sets over our table. Maybe I should tell them the truth about what happened before I came back...Or not... How about not. I brush the thought and shake my head. "I better be going now." Sarah says and scoots out of the booth. I nod and follow her. "Yeah, I'll be in the car in a sec." I say and my gaze lays on Jayden. She nods and drags will out of the restaurant. "Thanks Jayden" I smile. I see his eyes widen as I kiss his cheek. "I'll go pay" I say and walk towards the register. I pay and feel a hand in my shoulder. "what are you saying thank you for?" He looks at me, obviously confused. "Everything before I came back." I smile and walk to my car. "I'll go pick up clothes then I'll be over there" I tell her. I start up my car and drive off.
