As I started driving back home, I could see the sun setting behind the trees on the other side of the small fjord. The sky was painted in pinks and oranges, kind of like a unicorn had puked on a gigantic canvas and whatever god rules the sky figured:
'Hey, it looks kinda good actually. I'll put it on display for all earthlings to see.'
I drove past Halden city, through the streets and under some bridges. The streets were mostly empty, except for some teenagers roaming the streets. I revved up the engine a bit, just to show off. They waved at me, some even smiled. I waved back when I passed them. It didn't take long until I was outside of the city, and inside a forest. The forest passed, and soon I was on a huge flat with fields on both sides. A loud bang tore through my music, and I felt the speed decrease. I turned down the volume to the lowest point and tried to gas. Nothing happened.
"You've got to be kidding me..." I geared down and tried gassing again. Nothing.
"C'mon, please Percy, not now!" I geared down again, tried the gas, and you guessed it; nothing happened. I looked down on the gas-metre, I had run out of gas in the middle of the flat. The unicorn puke had almost been completely washed away by ink and glitter. It was pretty dark, but I could see what I needed. I could see the road, I could see some houses, even though they were only silhouettes in the distance, and I could see that I was nowhere near a gas station. I rolled as far as Percy could take me with his empty tank, but it did not help that much, maybe half an hour of walking and pushing Percy. Then he stopped. I stepped off him and sighed, while opening the backseat to put on my refleks. That vest was the ugliest piece of clothing that I've ever been forced to use, but since it's either wearing it or getting hit by a truck, I figured I might as well put it on. I looked like a grade schooler walking to the morning bus in the winter, and I felt like the biggest idiot in the entire world. How could I have forgotten to tank up? I fished out the phone of my pocket and dialed my fathers number. No reply.
'For real?!' I thought and had to repress a loud whine. The little sunlight that was left on the sky, disappeared and left me in the utter darkness of the night. I put my helmet on the ground right beside Percy and leaned myself on him while watching up at the night-sky. It was kind of beautiful, and it was kind of a calming sight. Just all of those stars. Millions on millions of them just shining down at the earth. Gigantic balls of fire and gas in various sizes floating around in space with various numbers of dead rocks circling them. Shining so bright that I could see them from a distance of thousands of light-years. Some of them might already be dead, and some of them hidden behind the pollution of the atmosphere. Yet I enjoyed pretending that they shone just for me. Other times I found comfort in the connection those balls of fire made me have with any human on earth that could see them. To know that I was all alone, yet I looked at the same thing as millions of other people, it was a nice feeling. I decided to start pushing Percy, and I stopped looking at the pretty sky.I had just pushed Percy about twenty metres when I saw a single light approaching me from behind. I turned my head and had to shade my eyes with one hand. I parked Percy, took of my helmet and waved fanatically with the hand that wasn't shading my eyes. No fucking way that I was going to let that vehicle drive past me. Not a chance in hell. I positioned myself in the middle of the road so that whoever was driving would have to stop in order to not run me over. The light seemed to slow down, and soon the motorcyclist had stopped right in front of me. I could not see anything, since their headlights were still on, leaving me blinded and unable to see jack squat. I prayed to whatever god that was in charge of meeting-strangers-in-the-middle-of-the-night-with-nothing-to-protect-oneself-with that this person was not a psychopath. The motorcyclist opened up the visor and I heard the voice of a seemingly foreign girl telling me that she was going to drive over to my motorcycle to park to see of there was anything she could do to help me. I nodded and moved out of the way in order to let her park in front of Percy. She stepped of the motorcycle and took of her helmet. She was pretty, really pretty. She had long, braided blonde hair, but you could see her after-growth was dark brown. The girl had dark skin and were a little short. She walked up to me and reached out her hand. I took it. Now that she was a little closer, I could see that her eyes were almost black. They were really pretty, like two black holes threatening to suck me in and never let me out. Her eyes were the kind of eyes you never really want to stop looking into, she gave the term 'getting lost in ones eyes' a whole new meaning.
