"You're doing great, Taylor, just hold up for a little more", Karlie encourages her mate. She watches from the side with the Haims and the other vampires. Taylor blasts her flaming red powers from her burning palms into a large bonfire outside Ella's cave. It hurts. Her flesh feels like it's softening and peeling away from her hands to her arms to her waist. Her bones feel like they're crumbling to a crisp inside her body. The sheer force of her powers are so strong that she needs to lean against the body of a hefty indigo dragon to steady herself. Taylor is sweating. Her combat shirt is slick against her wet skin. Still, Taylor courses on, her boot heels digging into the dry dirt. She can't take it for much longer. A striking headache is beginning to pang at one side of her head. It's throbbing. Taylor grits her teeth in agony and wills herself to continue. But the pain is becoming too much. Unbearable. She lets out a single, strained scream and the vortex of powers from her hands dissipates; with Taylor collapsing to the ground in complete exhaustion.

"Taylor!", Karlie gasps and rushes to her side along with the others, "Taylor, come on, come back".

"Is she okay?!", Alana worries, trying to see over Este's shoulder.

"Karlie, be careful how you move her", Cara warns, her voice wobbly.

"Oh, no, the poor dear's tuckered out", Georgia frowns, absentmindedly petting Cara's arms as she gazes at Taylor's lifeless body.

"She's completely out. Ella, get over here, what are you doing?", Este calls. Danielle remains silent as she steadily watches from a few feet away.

"I'm just making sure the portal is healthy. She did a perfect job, this thing is flawless!", Ella babbles as she stands before a suspended oval of swirling dark matter. She's placing stones with strange symbols around the portal, explaining that they are to protect it as she goes.

"Taylor isn't waking up, Ella", Karlie whimpers, "She isn't waking up".

"Este, why isn't Taylor moving?", Alana whines, also growing restless.

"Ella, for the last time, get over here!", Este growls.

"She's fine", Ella says, very calm as she strolls over to the worried friends. "Did you see what she just did? She's going to be asleep for a few hours is all. Till then, we can wait for your families to receive the portal and come home".

Something in Karlie's heart sings. She brings Taylor onto her lap and strokes at her hair. Family. Home. Her family would be coming home after so many months of separation. She'd be able to hug her mother and sisters. She'd be able to see her best friends again. She would be reunited. They all would.

"My mum", Cara murmurs, her blood red eyes still locked on the ground.

"Oh, baby", Georgia coos, nuzzling her nose into her mate's neck.

"Gigi", Karlie chuckles. "Jourdan, Toni, Stella, they'll all be here. They will all be here!", she breathes, not fully believing her own words. "Cara, you are so crying".

"Oh, shut up", Cara sniffs. "It's literally been months. Over a year, actually".

They watch the gentle swirling of the portal, knowing that it would take a few days for anyone to step through. But still, they watch and wait and hope. Taylor stirs slightly every now and then, still flopping over Karlie's lap.

"I should take her to bed", Karlie says. "She's getting heavy".

"Yeah, let our sleepy Chosen One rest up", Georgia laughs.
