Julia opened the door with a flourish. Jasmine peeked around the door and looked around. There were 12 girls in bunks, sleeping. And, you know, why would you be awake at one o' clock in the morning? Well, the storm could have woken them up, but it had settled a while ago. There were 3 empty beds. Paige got carried to a bed next to the window. Much to Jasmine's relief, she seemed to be waking up. Jasmine was directed to the bed right next to Paige's. Julia smiled and said, "Here's where you will be sleeping, Jasmine. Put your stuff down beside your bed, get changed into some dry clothes and try to get some sleep." Jasmine nodded and said, "OK." She put her things beside her bed and Paige's things beside Paige's bed. Julia, Katy and Alexia walked over to the opened door. "We'll come and wake you when it is time to get up." Katy and Alexia walked out of the door. Julia turned, about to follow. "We'll be in the first room beside the stairs on the second floor if you need anything." Julia said. Then she walked out of the room. Jasmine quickly slipped out of her wet sodden clothes and put them on the floor. She didn't know where to put them and she was too tired to put them anywhere else. She slipped into another long sleeved top and a long pair of pants before slipping into bed. Tired as she was, she couldn't sleep. She sat up, and with the dim light, took in her surroundings as well as she could. The floor was made of wood. Since the wood was visible clearer than she expected, Jasmine guessed it was a bright type. Birch, perhaps. The walls were orange and were dotted with small windows. There were 15 beds on the wall. The one empty bed only had nothing on it. Jasmine stretched and snuggled down in the bed, as the cold was getting to her. A strange glow caught her attention, and she looked under the bed covers. Her hands were glowing yellow. I must be imagining things, she thought as her eyes started to close. Yet the glow didn't fade away, even when she fell asleep.

.................

"Who are they?"

"Why did they get taken here?!" "

What is going on!?"

Jasmine woke up to hushed whispers of multiple children.
Where... am I? Jasmine's eyes fluttered open to ugly brown walls and a bright wooden roof. She sat up quickly and the 12 kids around her jumped back with a scream. "Hello, " she said. The kids screamed again. "Look, I know Paige and I's arrival may have surprised you, but please tell me why you are looking at me like I'm a ghost?" A kid about Jasmine's age with very short black hair, so short it didn't even touch her shoulders, looked away sheepishly. "Errrrr... for what you just said." Jasmine nodded and said, "Understood. I'm Jasmine by the way." The black haired girl laughed nervously and said, " Yeah. I'm Poppy by the way." Jasmine could tell that Poppy was about to introduce the other girls when Julia opened the door and looked inside. "Hello, everyone!" She glanced at the crowd of kids around Jasmine's bed and said, "I see you lot have met Jasmine! You need to all be heading to the dining hall. How is Paige by the way?" Jasmine looked over to Paige and saw her eyes were open. "I'm awake," she said and jumped out of her bed. Jasmine was very glad to see she was better. Julia nodded and said, "That's good. I'll deal with both your wet bed sheets and pillows. Follow the others to the dining hall." A girl with long brown hair tied back into two pigtails, one on each side of her head, laughed and said, "Did you WET THE BED?" Jasmine got out of bed and stood beside Paige. "No, we didn't," Jasmine said. "Well she said, 'deal with your WET SHEETS'. That would mean you wet the bed, HAHAHA!" She doubled over, laughing so hard she could barely breathe.  Paige gathered all her hair and squeezed water out of it. Knowing what she was going to do, Jasmine decided to the same. The both stood with water cupped in their hands. The others looked on, eyes stretched wide. Jasmine and Paige both said, "Stand up straight like you haven't just been kicked." Still laughing, the girl did. Jasmine hurled her water at her. Paige did directly after. The water hit her directly. She looked down, shocked.  She took a step back - and spun around and fell onto her bed. When she stood up, there was a patch of water where her wet clothing had touched the surface. "We went for a swim when the storm tried to swallow me up, that's all," Jasmine said bravely. The girl's face went red and she ran out of the room, embarrassed. The others were staring at Paige and Jasmine, stunned. Poppy smiled and said, "Wow! Thanks for standing up to Abby back there. She bullies us to NO END. None of us have been brave enough to stand up to her so far." The others nodded and someone said, "That was amazing!" Paige smiled and said, "When you have to escape your home before a fire eats you all up, jump off high decking with your sister in your arms and swim in a raging sea to rescue someone, bullies become nothing."
