She then walked to Dylan's balcony, that's when she saw a familiar figure also staring at her.
The pair once grey now looked like a stormy sky looking straight at Halo's emerald greens.
"Halo?"
She looked back at Dylan, he now looks really lonely. He'd always have those somewhat sad looking eyes but this time Dylan just looked too sad.
Halo's eyes searched for the grey- eyed man outside, but he wasn't there anymore.
"I'm really sorry for leaving you for a long time, I know I told you that I'd always be there for you. And, that time at the Nailden Gardens, it was really a jerk of me to shout at you lie that, I was just... just... really, and I mean really jealous that Aaron's happily spending time with my...", Dylan paused and thought of what Halo really is for him, "with... my..."
Halo gently approached Dylan and put her small hands on his face and said, "We're not children anymore Dylan, you're my best friend and no one will ever replace you in my life." She smiled at Dylan who's now staring at her. "I want to apologize as well, I can't deny I felt jealous when I saw how close you are already with Victoria, and she even calls you with a nickname and you call her with a nickname and, I don't know why I feel irritated whenever she's near you."
Dylan took a deep breath and also stood then gave her a tight embrace. Then, he whispered to Halo with a deep sigh, "You won't join the competition, right?"
They separated a little bit and Halo looked straight back at Dylan and answered, "I'm going to join in that competition. No matter what."
Dylan pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed once more, "If I'm going to be your partner I will certainly agree. However, I can't be your partner. . . I can't protect you that way. And what if, you become my competition?"
Halo smiled at Dylan, put her hands on his shoulders and said, "I will find my partner, the best there is in Sotteria. And when the moment comes that I will be your competitor, well... do your best, show no mercy, but remember... I am going to win. During the days you were far, I trained myself. I don't need anyone to save me anymore. I can manage my own safety."
After their talk, Halo's mind was elsewhere. She had been thinking why that grey- eyed man was in Lanrete.
She then went back to the cafeteria to try and find a possible partner. She sat down on their regular spot and stared at the gardens, the rain was still pouring.
A hand tapped on her shoulders and there a pair of stormy grey eyes stared back at her.
"Fin?"
Fin, pulled a chair beside her and sat.
"Why are you here, Fin?"
He gestured on the table, a tray with a cup of cocoa and a plate with a weird looking meat then answered, "To eat."
Halo's eyes fluttered gently and once more asked, "Why are you really here?"
Fin cut a small slice of the weird looking meat and ate then once more answered, "I'm hungry, so I went here to eat."
She face- palmed herself and asked, "Are you a student here in Lanrete?"
He nodded as an answer.
Halo then let him finish eating and while Fin was sipping his cocoa she raised, "I never pictured you as the silent type, you were talkative back in Sotteria when we first met."
Fin placed his cup down and looked back at Halo. "It's called table manners m'lady. Don't talk while your mouth's full. Haven't you heard of it?"
Taken a back, Halo realized what Fin said.
