The week flew by, and Friday had quickly approached. After working all day at the gallery on some of my art pieces and showing some customers around, I made my way back home to get ready for the party that I didn't even actually want to go to, but what's the harm in going out once in awhile?

After arriving home, I took a quick shower and made my way to our bedroom to find a decent outfit for the night. I decided on a navy blue dress that showed each and every curve on my body, it went mid way down my thighs and had a low cut back. After putting it on, I threw on some silver jewellery and put on some black heels.

Then, I blow dried my wavy hair and let it fall naturally over my shoulders. Which left me just enough time to cover my face in a light layer of makeup and put on a dark lipstick.

I nodded in approval of my attire once I took one last glance at myself through the long mirror in the hallway of our home. I left the house and entered my car, as my phone rang. It was Liz telling me that she had arrived and was waiting for me at the party. I sighed dramatically then drove to the address she told me, after putting it into the GPS.

Once I arrived, I knocked the door and was welcomed by the hosts of the party, after greeting them, I walked in towards Liz and a few other people; who I didn't really know. The music in the room was really loud and there were many people dancing in the middle of the room, whilst there were some people stood in groups near the sides, talking to one another, as well as a corner of the room was full of people drinking by the long table covered in different alcoholic beverages. It reminded me of the crazy college parties, that I used to go to, too often for my liking actually.

"Hey, you look beautiful!" Liz instantly welcomed me into a hug as I walked towards her.

After hugging her back I spoke. "Thanks, you look stunning, your dress is gorgeous." She was wearing a purple dress that had beading running alone the hem of the dress, it had short sleeves and clung on to her body perfectly.

"Thank you, Mark chose it." She grinned.

"Mark? As in Markus?" I raised my eyebrows in slight shock, Mark was the only other staff member at the gallery and one of my only friends.

"Yes, he's my boyfriend." She giggled.

"What? Since when? I always thought that there was something going on between you, I'm happy for you."

"Well, we've been seeing each other for a few months and he asked me to be his girlfriend a few days ago... I can't believe that I didn't tell you earlier, sorry."

"No need to apologise, it's cool. So is he coming today?"

"No, he had a family event to go to." She frowned.

"Well; at least we're together, Toni was busy too."

"Oh yes. Anyway, I'm going to get a drink, you coming?"

*********

I hung around with Liz for a couple of hours, we spoke about random things and she introduced me to a few of her friends. Spending time with people outside of work, was extremely nice. It made me feel less lonely, as if I've actually got some friends. I'm not in touch with many of my old high school or college friends, unfortunately.

I was stood by the door, thinking of leaving as it was getting late, when I felt someone tap me on my shoulder. I turned around to see Brendon with a big smile on his face.
