I stand up. Sammy and Blossom do the same. We are all exhausted, but we need to push on. If we don't get food or water, we will die.
Sammy sighs. He's tired, everyone is. My feet and legs burn with every single second, the pain intensifying. I have no doubt in my mind that the littles feel the same. We limp, getting slower and slower.
Blossom's bubbly attitute fades with each and every step she takes.
I wipe a drop of sweat off my nose.
I lift my head up and shift my gaze to what's ahead of me. Nothing has changed. Everything looks the same, the forest isn't ending anytime soon.
The trees starts to blend into each other, and I feel lost. It feels like the beginning, and I'm desperate for rest. Even though the forest is darkening, I feel like we haven't moved at all.
My legs start to drag across the grass, my eyes slowly closing more with every shaky breathe I take.
I am exhausted. I am hungry. I am thirsty. I am lost.
I am hopeless.
