Previously...
"The heart beat is getting fainter and fainter. We're loosing her. CODE RED," they yelled as more and more doctors flooded the room.
"Meek, please take care of my baby. And angel, mommy loves you so much...that's why I rather you be here instead of me. I'll watch over you forever...my forever with you," I said as I let darkness fall over me.
Beeeeeeeeeeeep ......
Narrator's POV
Beep. Beep. Beep.
"There it is. The heart beat is back. Turn the ventilation up higher. Check the blood pressure."
"Doctor, we have a problem...I can't find the baby's heart beat."
"Look harder Nurse Mary! We need to save this woman AND her baby," Dr. Burke said as his nurse, Mary, tried her hardest to locate a heart beat that belong to the baby's.
She tried and tried and tried but it was too late. She found nothing and the baby was gone.
"We lost it," she said defeatedly.
"Damn it Mary," Dr. Burke scoffed. "Let's work on patching up this gunshot wound to the chest."

The Next Day
Meek paced around the waiting room with his head hanging low. Ever since Nicki was brought in, he has not went home. The night she was brought in, her family and friends were there, but they left once the doctor told them that Nicki would wake up on her own time. Meek promised them he'd call once she opened her eyes.
Meek finally sat down with his hands in his head.
"I killed my baby," he said lowly.
Only hours before, Dr. Burke and Nurse Mary had came out to the waiting room to deliver the news to the family of Onika Maraj.
"I am so sorry Mr. Williams, but unfortunately we could not save the baby, however we were able to stop the bleeding and save Onika," he had said to him.
Meek definitely did not take the news well. When the doctor told him, he punched a hole in the wall before he broke down in the middle of the waiting room, apologizing to God for being the reason why the baby was no longer here.
And since then, it has been the longest seven hours and counting waiting for Nicki to wake up. Meek couldn't see her right at the moment because she was in ICU and waiting for a regular room.
"What did I do?" Meek screamed as he hit his fist against his knees. He put his head in his lap and mourned until he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Mr. Williams, you may see her now," Dr. Burke said.
Before he could finish his sentence, Meek rushed down the hallway looking at every name on the door until he came across Onika Maraj. He took a deep breath before entering.
He opened the door slowly and cautiously walked over to the love of his life.
Meek: "Baby I am so sorry. I know sorry isn't going to fix anything, but from the bottom of my heart, I apologize," he said as he grabbed her hand and repeatedly kissed the back of it.
"I need you to wake up for me, please. I can't lose you Nicki," he whispered with tears flowing down his face. "Man, I fucked up."
