"Hie," he whispered seeing her eyes flutter open.
"Hie," she smiled before a peaceful silence enveloped them as they looked at each other.
"When do you start going to the office?"
"Not anytime soon," he said.
"But...okay." She sighed seeing the warning in his eyes that clearly told her it would be pointless to argue with him.

He stayed in bed for a few more minutes as he took her mind off other problems not realizing she was doing the same for him with all the jokes and little stories she told him. After freshening up he took her outside to enjoy the outdoors instead of being cooped up inside the house. Especially now with the children gone.

"So...Marco." She stated as they basked in the sun later on.
"We finally got his location. And my friends have all finally arrived. Actually they are coming over this very evening," Linc said.
"Cas sure has numerous connections."
"One of the perks of being friends with his troublesome behind," Linc smiled.
"Troublesome. I think you are the one who instigates the misbehavior between the two of you," she said as Linc gave her a questioning look whilst he tried to hide a mischievous smile.
"Well you wouldn't love me if I wasn't a bad boy now, would you?"
Mel laughed at his statement.
"It's good to know you finally accepted that you are a boy and not a man," Mel teased as he looked at her in bewilderment.

"Take it back," he said with a serious expression as she shook her head no trying to stifle her giggles.
"Take it back," he said as his hands made their way to her waist.
"Sorry can't do. You said it," she chuckled before she stopped seeing a devilish smile upon his lips. "Linc you wouldn't dare," she whispered.
A few minutes later she was writhing in laughter as he tickled her mercilessly until tears pooled in her eyes as she held onto his arms trying to push them away but failing miserably.

Pushing her chair back indoors he took her to the kitchen leaving her as he removed his shirt.
"What are you doing?" Mel asked as he shrugged off his shirt leaving him in a vest.
"Preparing dinner," he smiled as he intentionally flexed his muscles as he grabbed an apron.
"Need any help," she asked as he looked at her.
"Hmmm, yeah you can start shredding the lettuce for our salad," he said rinsing the lettuce whilst she grabbed a bowl.

He had made an oath to himself. He would never make her feel useless. Especially when she had to go under the knife the day after tomorrow. His team of surgeons had informed him they could actually save her legs with the help of a surgeon who specialized in assembling damaged bone tissue.

"Penny for your thoughts," he heard her say as she looked up at him with a smile before he realized he had stopped chopping the vegetables.
"Hmmm just wondering what time Cas is going to arrive," he said with a smile as she looked at him in question. "And about your upcoming surgery," he said seeing a smile grace her lips.
She knew his first answer was a lie.

"The surgery will be peachy. Nothing to worry about, though I am worried about the hospital food, your child has the most ridiculous cravings," she said as he chuckled.
"Oh he/she is now mine alone?" He said adding the vegetables to the pan.
"Well..." She said placing the bowl on the counter just as the doorbell rang.

"I'll get that," she beamed as she left the room listening to the sound of Linc's laughter. "We aren't finished with this discussion love," he called out.

"Cas! Finally, Linc was beginning to nag me about your whereabouts," Mel beamed.
"I am here now, so don't you worry about anything," he said as he stepped inside followed by two men.
"Gentleman I would like to introduce you to Melinda Shields. Mel this is Vlad Usatov and Lei Wu," he said as the two men approached her respectively each taking a hand in his kissing it both gunning for her attention.
