"This kid's a bigger mess than Matt," Angelo said that night. "I'm counting more than 10 breaks and fractures since his last hospital visit, and that's just his legs and back.
Bethany Olson was able to provide us with her brother's medical records, which included blood tests, x-rays, and a lot of details, especially of his last visit to the Seattle hospital.
"Is that his spine?" Chris asked, looking at what appeared to be a back bent sideways.
"Was body slammed against a stair railing, breaking his spine at a 78 degree angle when he was 15," Angelo said. "Needed surgery to fix him. Also had 4 seperate breaks on his right leg, really cracked skull, broken sternum.... Its a miracle this kid was even able to walk and probably even talk fine after what his father did to him."
"My god...." Chris said in horror.
Chris felt sad, that Roadkill was most likely tortured as a kid.
"Agent Cerulli," a voice spoke and he looked up to see it was one of Dr. Malarkey's interns.
"Hey, you work for Malarkey, right?" Chris said.
She nodded. "Alex Dorame, yes. She sent me to give you our progressed results."
"Show me?" Chris asked, motioning to a seat. She walked over and sat down, handing Chris a folder.
"We discovered some disturbing marks on Emma Roberts's bones," she said as Chris pulled up pictures.
"These kind of..... look like bite marks...." Chris said, examining the marks.
"Never took Roadkill for a dog person," Angelo frowned.
"Umm.... Not canine, sir," Alex said.
"No, she's right, they're not pointed," Chris said.
"We believe human, sir," Alex said.
Chris lowered the picture and looked at the girl seated before him. "Are you suggesting she was a victim to cannibalism?"
"I don't think so, considering she still had flesh intact, aside from her skin," she said. "But there were sharp incisons in all areas of the major arteries, mostly after being sawed in half. And there was antimortem bruising on her wrists and ankles prior to the cuts."
"So.... Roadkill bites her.... Cuts her in half.... Then ties her up and hangs her body parts before cutting her major arteries and draining them of blood?" Angelo asks, disgusted.
"This guy is literally twisted," Chris said, putting the pictures down.
"He was probably tasting me, that son of a bitch.... Now I feel sick...." Chris thought, gulping.
"We also managed to find a sliver of some sort of blade in one of her wounds, and Dr. Malarkey is examining the bite marks a bit more. She saud something seemed off."
"Bite marks on bone isn't strange for her? But what about the sliver?" Chris asked.
"The entomologist intern is certain it could be a sort of precious metal, so its not a common weapon," Alex said. "He's going to have his mentor examine it and determine its composition. But so far, i looks like a silvery color."
"Alright. Get back to us when you got anything. You seem pretty smart for your age, you know that?" Chris said, complimenting.
She smiled. "Thank you. I'm vlose to already earning my medical degree, and next year might be the first of my class to get her doctorate. I know I'm young, but I'm at the top of my class according to Dr. Malarkey."
"Wow. Well, congrats, Miss Alex. You you like to take something to eat or drink before you go?"
"That's sweet, but no thank you. I was on my way to lunch anyway," she smiled, gathering her messenger bag. "I should get going. Have a good day, gentlemen."
"Bye," Chris said as she left.
"Nice kid," Angelo greeted. "She's definitely going places with that big brain."
"Well she is one of Malarkey's grad students," Angelo said. "But back to business, these marks ahe found do seem pretty off, in a weird way."
"How so?" Chris asked.
"Look, these are lined, meaning human teeth, but look at the corners of the lines," Angelo said, pointing at the teeth marks.
Chris examined it and frowned. "Looks like.... A sharpened canine tooth chomped on her."
"So, Roadkill definitely has sharpened teeth to bite his victims now," Angelo said.
"Okay, but how does that explain the blood draining after her body was cut in half. Sounds pretty ritualistic to me," Chris said.
"There have been some reports of bodies being found drained of blood and sometimes dismembered down in Pittsburg," Angelo said. "I think Agent Purdy is on that case. We should ask him for some insight, see if Roadkill is related to those cases, too."
"I doubt it, but its still a good idea," Chris said. "I'll ask him when I get the chance."
Angelo nodded as he looked at the pictures.
"At least we're starting to understand why TJ was off the deep end on this case," Angelo said.
"Yeah," Chris sighed.
