Chapter Five

The last bell. Finally! I thought this day would never end. I pack up my things slowly as everyone dashes out of the door. I go to my locker and get my backpack. Just a few kids are in the hallway, which is fine by me. I hate how people are just in your way or just walking slow. Anyways, I take my time walking to the car line to wait for my mom. I go to the willow tree and sit down. I put on my headphones and start to sketch.
   "Look who it is. It's the mute girl from earlier." A voice says to me. I look up see a posse of girls that surround me.
   "I'm not finish with you." She glares. I gulp. The boys might have helped me before, but now...I'm alone.
   "Give me those drawings or things will get ugly." She says with anger in her voice. I just keep drawing. It started to drizzle while I kept drawing. She snatched my drawing book. I leap forward to grab it back, but her friends pin me against the tree.
   "Oh...you like them too, huh?" She questions with a smirk. She shows her friends the drawing of me and the guys hanging out at the willow tree. They all laugh. I try to wiggle from their grasp, but to no avail.
   "It would be ashamed if something happen to this." She says sarcastically while wiggling the book. She rips the page and crumples it up. I feel tears running down my face.
   "Oh... So you can cry, but not talk? Well, you're just full of surprises, aren't you. Oh...remember this name, Payton." She giggles. She chucks the drawing into a nearby puddle. Her and her friends stroll off laughing as they leave me with what was my most precious drawing.
