Why Is This Happening?

Chapter Seven

   All weekend I keep getting text from the unknown number. If I told my mom, she would want to move...again. I put my phone on 'do not disturb' and throw it on to my bed. I remember I have to do homework, so I begin with language arts.

Couple Hours Later...

   After what seems like forever, I'm finally done. I get up and slowly go to my bed. I hesitate to take my phone. I grab it turn it back on. Oh shit...five new text from the unknown number. I read each one.
You should really be careful from now on.
You better protect the ones close to you.
I know you, but you don't know me.
Don't mess with.
Or you'll pay.....big time.
   I squeeze my phone angrily. I bet this is someone at school. I put my phone in my pocket. I can't believe this is happening to me. Why? I never did anything to anyone...I think. It's either Payton or.....my dad. I can't tell anyone this. I sigh and lay down on my bed. I wish I know why this is happening.

The Next Day...

I sigh as my alarm wakes me up. I get ready in ten minutes and head downstairs.
"Hey, honey!" My mom says with a warm smile. I smile back. All I can think about is those text messages. I eat breakfast and head down to the bus stop. I sigh even more as I sit down in a seat on the bus. I look out the window thinking about what has happened for the past couple of days.

Ten Minutes Later...

I get off the bus while scrolling through my music. I'm greeted by the guys.
"Hey, (y/n)!" Jack says while running up to me. I just smile to him. The others come up to me.
   "Hey, I saw what happened to you with Payton. I'm sorry...I would've helped, but I was on the bus while it happened," Mark says while the others nod with him.
   "Screw them! They're just jealous of you!" Felix laughs. I giggle as the bell rings for first period.
"Well, see you guys later!" Jack says while waving goodbye. I smile and head to first period.

A Couple Periods Later...

As I'm leaving for lunch, someone grabs me and pulls me into the janitor's closet. I kick to try to get away.
"Okay! You can stop struggling!" A familiar voice says while letting go of me. I turn around to see Payton. She just smiles and waves. I have a feeling this will be bad.
"Look, I want to make this crystal clear. You stay away from them and then we'll have no more problems, okay?" She smiles. I just give her a confused look.
   "Ugh! It's those guys, you idiot!" She says with her arms crossed. Are you kidding me?! There's no way I'm doing that!
   "If you say...or shake your head no, then your secret will be told all around the school," she explains with a smirk. I gulp. She walks over to me and gets close to my ear.
   "I know about your past. I know about your dad, your past life, your crush," she says. She backs up.
   "Deal?" She says while putting out her hand. I have no other choice. I look to her with a menacing look and shake her hand.
   "Excellent!" She cheers as she skips out of the closet. I walk out and put my hands in my jacket. I may have just made the worst mistake of my life over my past.

Hey guys! I'm off tomorrow because of the high school's graduation. I'm hoping to upload more, but I have to practice my flute and memorize 5 pieces of music by the end of August. Yeah...a little stressful, but I will try. Anyways, hoped you enjoyed! Bye!
