Akira walked causiously through the dense spruce forest that lines the den site, "Stay with father Aspen, I won't be long" she said, Aspen whined. She was the most adventurous pup in her pack, she loved surprises. "I'm sorry" she walked off before she could complain. She had been sent to the ring, The legendary totem ring. The ring was placed high on the top of one of the highest mountain in their kingdom. Akira had to lie, Aspen is known to follow on adventures without being noticed. Once she snuck out of a hunt and trekked all the way to the ring on her own, everyone was worried. She didn't want it happening again. It would take 2 moons to reach the ring and 2 to return to her pack. There was a long adventure ahead...

Not far into her long journey she spotted a white figure rustling in the bushes. It was white, but it had no silver, so it couldn't be Aspen, could it? "Aspen?" Akira asks, cocking her head, a young snow hare skitters out in the other direction and bounds away. Akira is frozen for a moment, it's the middle of winter, snow hares look like snow but all of it is caught up in the canopy, before it reaches the ground. Akira sprinted quickly after it, when she finally caught up she spotted a family, all of them could never go into ticked amongst the green ferns and shrubs. Her stomach grumbled. She was starving, it had been two nights since their last hunt and no one but scouts had found food. She lowered her head and crouched on her haunches silently.

Some of the hares shifted uneasily. She sensed a weak hare, it was hobbling on three legs but still looked worth trying to hunt. She moved silently around them and placed herself directly in front of the weak one. She pounced but the hare reacted too quickly. It bounded in the opposite direction and Akira bolted after it, not caring about stealth anymore. She weaved swiftly through trees, inching closer to her next meal. Suddenly the hare ducked out of sight and Akira stopped confused in a small clearing.

She could hear the light "bom...bom" of its heart but couldn't pin point where it was coming from, it was like it was right beneath-
She gasped as she looked down, she was standing directly over a small hole and could just see the hare scampering around about 4 feet down. She growled with frustration and circled the hole like an eagle planning and wondering. She started digging part of the hole out to make it wider, dirt fell atop the hares pure white fur and it looked up, only to get a face full of dirt. Akira would force it out by covering the hole in dirt, it would be brilliant. Soon enough she found  herself just inches away from the hare staring at it with anger. "I'm sorry I must take your life but it is what I need to survive, I will let you know now, you will be honoured" she said peering at the terrified creature, but it stopped trembling. She cocked her head and it came up a bit further out of the hole. With a burst of speed the rabbit sped for the exit only to be cramped in the mouth of Akira. "I'm sorry" Akira said finally.
