Draco sped as quickly as he could up the stairs to his mother's room. He breathed hard; why did they have so many stairs? Pondering a remodel, he walked swiftly down the winding corridor to his mother's room. Arriving at his destination, he rapped his knuckles hastily on the bedroom door. A groggy looking Narcissa Malfoy answered him. Aware of the panicked look on her son's face, she ushered him inside.
"What's the matter dear?" She questioned in a worried tone.
"He escaped." He breathed like a whisper, as if someone was eavesdropping on them. Narcissa gave a knowing nod to her son, and gestured for him to follow her.
She brought him down a corridor he'd never noticed before. After a long stretch of hallway, they arrived at a small, locked door. Pulling on a chain hung around her neck, she drew up a key hanging from its end. She slowly twisted it in the keyhole until a small click could be heard. Glancing from side to side, Narcissa gave the door a small push, and it creaked its way open.
"Come here Draco, quickly"
Not sure what to think, Draco followed his mother once again. It was a wardrobe type room, much smaller than all the others in the manor. "Put these on," she said, passing him a small bundle of clothes and a small hourglass. Turning away from his mother, who had already began to redress, he wondered what the small hourglass could be for. Deciding to worry about it later, he took a closer look at the clothes he had been handed. The outfit was quite formal, similar to what his father used to wear. They were like his dress robes, but adorned with the Malfoy family crest rather than the slytherin logo. Disgusted with his own family's pride, he pulled his t-shirt off his head and started to change into his new attire.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Harry woke with a start. A noise somewhere downstairs had woken him from his dreamless sleep. He glanced at Ron to see whether he had been woken by the noise as well. Despite the disturbance, Ron continued snoring in the adjacent bed. Deciding Ron could sleep through just about anything, Harry reached over and shook his friend awake.
"Ron, I think somebody is in the house!"
"Yeah, Mum 'n Dad, George 'n Ginny..." He mumbled, still not quite awake.
"No Ron, seriously! We should go check it out. If it's nothing, then you can bring your lazy arse right back up here to bed"
"Fine, alright, I'm coming!"
A disgruntled Ron pulled down his sheets and crawled out of bed. The pair snatched their wands off the bedside table , and crept down the winding staircase of the Burrow. They slowly descended the stairs, detecting no movement other than their own. When they arrived at the landing however, they noticed something quite peculiar. The girl's bedroom door was ajar. Growing up in a house filled to the brim with boys, Ginny was familiar with he concept of ensuring her bedroom door was closed at all times. She never would have left it open; not even this slight bit. Ron swung the door open to find Ginny in a peaceful slumber, and her neighboring bed, empty.
"Hermione!" Ron whimpered, fear and panic in his voice.
"I'll wake Ginny" said Harry "See if she knows anything. Quick, go get your mum, and try not to make her worry too much."
Ron have Harry a brief nod, and hurried back up the stairs to his parents bedroom. Harry placed his hand on the sleeping girl's arm. "Gin, I need you to wake up. Something's happened with Hermione". Ginny wiped the sleep out of her eyes, not fully comprehending the situation. "What's going on?" she questioned, unsure of why she'd found Harry waking her.
A glance at the clock told her it was still early; Harry and her lazy brother would never be up at this hour. Before Harry could explain, Ron arrived at her doorway with her parents. Her mother took one look into Ginny's bedroom and gasped. Realization finally hitting her, Ginny slowly turned her head, finding the bed next to hers completely empty.
