Chapter Four

Draco paced back and forth; what could he possibly do? Hermione was locked away in his father's library, and he had no way in.   He had to get help, but from who?  Blaise was away on a family vacation, not that he would have helped anyway.  Draco might be able to get pansy to the manor, but once she found out why she was there, she would never go for it.  Knowing there was only one place left to call, Draco dialed the number for the Burrow.
The phone rang a few times, making  him nervous.  What if no one picked up? What if someone did? Would they believe him?  His thoughts were interrupted by an answer on the phone.
"Hello?" said a voice that sounded just like Harry's.
"Harry? It's Draco..." And with that, Draco explained as quickly as he could the situation at hand.  Before he could finish telling Harry the most important part, he heard footsteps coming down the hall.  He had to get out.  If his father saw him in his study, then he was in tremendous trouble.  For Hermione's sake, and his own, he couldn't let that happen.
Draco dropped the phone and slipped away into a secret corridor that his mother had shown him years ago.  Narcissa Malfoy was a very social person, and didn't like being so controlled by her husband.  She used to make secret phone calls to her friends from her husband's study, as it was the only room in the manor that housed a muggle telly.  This was the Malfoy's preference for secret communication, as it  was the only method they knew of (besides face to face communication) in which you couldn't use magic to trace back to its user.  Narcissa added this corridor to ensure that her husband never knew about the secret calls, although they really were harmless.  She decided to show it to her son in case he ever needed it. Good thing too, because Lucius Malfoy had indeed been headed to his study as he walked down the hall.

Lucius sped down the corridor, urgent to find his wand. As soon as he found it, he would call up his friends for a little (really) early morning entertainment. The mud blood wasn't going to torture herself, now was she? He was sure that his wand had been up here. Why, it had only been an hour since he'd stood in this very spot and set his wand on the desk. How curious, he thought, that it was missing. He knew his son would never dare to steal his wand, and for what reason? It wasn't like he cared about the mud blood or anything. The house elf must have picked it up, it was the only reasonable explanation. If Lucius had it his way, then the house elf wouldn't be allowed anywhere near a wizard's wand. It was the mudblood's endless petitioning that had robbed him of the many restrictions he used to be able to place on his house elves. S.P.I.T or S.P.E.W or something. It was just another reason on his list of reasons to despise her, and tonight, he would get his revenge.

Not sure what to think, Harry stood there holding the phone, numb from what he had just heard, senses blunt from the dull, endless tone.  What had Hermione told Draco that she hadn't even told Ron?  Knowing that he couldn't keep standing there, he went to go find Ron and the others.  When he finally found Ron a few rooms over, he did not hesitate to recite everything he's just heard.  Once he'd finished, Ron nodded as though he knew what needed to be done.
The pair grabbed their wands and the invisibility cloak, quickly shouted to Mrs. Weasly where they were going, and they were on they're way.  The turned, preparing to apparate, when they found themselves face to face with a furious looking Ginny.
"You weren't planning on leaving without me, now we're you?"  She said it in a tone of voice that told you she was not kidding.  Aware that Ginny wouldn't take no for an answer, the two boys agreed to let her along.  They decided that they would all apparate to the outside of the manor, then knock on the door with the cloak on.  If Malfoy or the house elf answered, then they would remove the cloak, otherwise, they would stay hidden.
The trio was ready to leave, but when they closed their eyes to apparate, they did not hear a crack as they normally did.  As a matter of fact, when they opened them again, they were exactly in the same place as they were before.
"When Lucius kidnapped Hermione, he must have put some sort of temporary spell up to prevent us from apparating." Suggested Ginny. "Let's try the floo."  This time, Ron stood in of the fireplace and tossed some of the green powder onto the soot-filled floor.  Nothing.  He tried again, and this time, said "Malfoy Manor" as clear as day.  Nothing.  "He must have blocked the floo too." Stammered Ron.
The wizards and witch knew what they had to do, and unfortunately for them, it was to travel there the muggle way.  Together, the trio set out, unsure of how long they had to get there, or what was to happen when they arrived.
