What Might Be Sane

One house hurts

And one house aches

Listen to the hearts just

Break and break

Asking again

How much more can we take?

From the demons inside

Now all awake

Leaving nothing but chaos

Behind in their wake.

Disillusioned

Jaded eyes

They said sky's the limit

Then we found the sky,

Sitting in the dark

Wondering why

Love's only unconditional

For a matter of time

So hand me the clock

So I can rewind.

And we're begging for something,

Anything to give

When you can't feel your heart

How do you live?

So take its key

And lock up the sin

Throw it away

And forget where you've been.

Mirrors of blood shot eyes

Of bitten lips

Holding on through the tsunami

Surviving the crests and dips

Keep your eyes dry

As skin tears and rips

From debris and stones

You'll take every hit

And you'd trade all your could-haves

For one should-have-been.

Black hole in your chest

That keeps eating away

More and more and more

As everything slips away

The voice in your head

Pleading "someone please stay"

As the sanity goes

And strays farther away

Your palms are bleeding

As you're counting the days

Til the demons really truly

Lead you far astray

You would go back

But you don't know the way

And what good what it do

When you can no longer say

You're something close

To what might be sane.
