Chapter 9
Louis' POV
"Pregnant?" Harry asked, laughing. "Stop joking with me, Louis."
"I'm not." The fact that he thought of it as a joke was offensive.
"With who?" He asked. His face immediately transformed to complete seriousness.
"Who do you think? Of course it's James." I responded. "Harry, don't make things worse for her. I told you to calm down."
Harry's jaw and fists began to clench even tighter as sweat rolled down his forehead. His eyes scanned the room before he quickly grabbed the papers stacked on his desk and threw them up in the air, causing them to fly everywhere. He got ahold of one of the few books sitting on his nearly empty bookshelf and threw it across the room.
"Harry, stop!" I quickly jumped between Harry and the bookshelf before he made an effort to throw more books. "Why are you doing this?"
"I made a big mistake. Jessica is pissed." Tears began to roll down his face. This was the first time I had seen Harry cry in months. He was usually so happy.
"Harry.." I said, pulling my best friend into a hug.
"I shouldn't of blown her off like that. You're right, she does need someone. But she doesn't deserve someone like me. I screwed up really bad." Harry began to pick up the mess of papers.
I got down on my knees to help him, neatly pulling the papers into the state they used to be in.
"Don't blame yourself." As I got up, I found Harry holding himself against the wall, his head dropping down to the floor.
"What do you mean? It's my fault." He raised his voice as he punched a hole into the wall.
"Harry!" I shouted, slapping him in the face. "You need to calm the fuck down."
"I can't!" He exclaimed, wiping tears from his face. "Jess was my best friend. I broke her heart."
"You can fix things." I told him as I took his wrist and guided him away from the wall.
Harry quickly pulled his wrist away as he made his way to the door. It wasn't like Harry to act the way he was.
"Where are you going?" I asked, following after him.
"To fix things, like you said." Harry quickly pulled on his jacket and pulled a beanie over his hair.
"You better not do anything stupid." I advised, knowing there was nothing that I could do to stop his stubborn self. "Promise?"
Harry never answered. He was already out the door.
I sighed as I picked up the phone. Might as well get somebody to fix the hole Harry had caused.
Jessica's POV
Words couldn't explain the emotions that were racing through my head. What was I going to do? I practically poured my heart out to Harry and I received a slap in the face in return. One thing I knew for sure was that I could not stay at the flat. I'd find a place to stay. Harry wouldn't have to deal with me anymore.
As I drove, I made an effort to block all thoughts from entering my mind and concentrated on the road. Lately, the area's weather conditions have been horrid. The pouring rain made it rather difficult to drive. I decided to the pull over and rest until the rain subsided.
"Fix yourself, Jessica." I said to myself as I stared in my rearview mirror.
As time passed, I began to drift to sleep as I rested my forehead on the steering wheel.
----------
I woke up to a knock on my passenger door window. How long was I even sleeping? Maybe an hour or so. As I readjusted my position in the driver's seat, I felt someone watching me. Out of all people, I found James looking at me through the glass. He was the last person I wanted to see.
"What are you doing?" James asked as I rolled down the window.
"None of your business." I huffed and crossed my arms, looking away.
James looked at me with concern. It was typical for him to act like this. He could be the devil one day and an angel the next.
"Come inside my apartment." He invited.
It wasn't until then that I noticed I was parked right outside James' flat.
"Why? We're done, James." I replied, sternly.
You could tell him you're pregnant right now, Jessica. He is the father, after all.
Quickly, I tucked the thought away from my brain.
"It's pouring." James stated.
In defeat, I stepped out of my car, pulling my hoodie over my head. The cold rain showered over me as James pulled me by my hand in an effort to guide me to his flat. It wasn't going to stop raining anytime soon and I needed to pass time. Maybe, just maybe, I could make good terms with James. We haven't spoken since the day we broke up.
"You know, I missed you." James admitted as he shut the door.
"I don't love you anymore." I announced, backing away from him.
Was this James' plan? To get me back? Suddenly, I became afraid. I have seen all of James' different sides and I must admit half of them could scare the shit out of me. If I didn't give him what he wants, I didn't know what would happen.
"Yes you do." He smirked, pushing me against the wall. "Don't you miss us?"
Instantly, I regretted ever agreeing to come inside his flat.
"No." I replied as I felt his hand stroke my cheek.
My body went limp as I felt his lips crash into mine. There was nothing I could do to fight back. Does it even matter, Jessica? Harry doesn't want you. Might aswell go back to James. I thought as I found myself kissing him in return.
That night, I did things I regret.
---------
"Good morning." I heard James groan.
I rolled over, finding the sun shining in my eyes.
"I have to go, James." I said, realizing everything I did last night. As I began to get dressed, James quickly rose from the bed.
"No you don't." He replied.
Beep!
As I reached over to grab my phone, James got to it first.
"Who's Louis?" He asked.
"My friend." I snatched the phone away from his hands, reading the text. James continued to look over my shoulder.
From: Louis
Sorry, told Harry you're pregnant. Neither of you guys came back last night. Can't get a hold of Harry. I'm worried? xx
"You're pregnant?" James uttered in disgust.
"I have to go." I quickly gathered my things and made my way to the door.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" He snarled as he tightly took hold of my wrist.
That's going to leave a bruise.
"I regret ever coming here." I spat in James face, setting my wrist free.
Immediately, I found myself out the door and sprinting the hall.
