Chapter Eighteen- "What's the plan, superman?"
I wake up on Sunday morning to find the dormitory blazing with winter sunlight and my shoulder feeling much better. I sit up quickly and look over at Colin's bed but it's been blocked from view by high curtains. Seeing that I'm awake, Madam Pomfrey comes bustling over with a breakfast tray and then takes one over to Harry, who's also just woken up.
"All in order," she says, stretching Harry's arm and fingers. "When you've finished eating, you both may leave."
I dress quickly and once Harry's done, we hurry off to Gryffindor Tower, desperate to tell the other four about Colin and Dobby, but they aren't there. We leave to look for them, wondering down the halls in silence.
As we pass the library, Percy strolls out of it, looking in far better spirits than last time we met.
"Oh, hello, Harry, Emily," he says. "Excellent flying yesterday, really excellent. Gryffindor have just taken the lead for the House Cup - you earned fifty points."
"You haven't seen Ron or Hermione or Maya or Elinor, have you?" says Harry
"No, I haven't," says Percy, his smile fading. "I hope Ron's not in another girls' toilet ..."
I force a laugh, then drag Harry away, heading straight for Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. After making sure that neither Filch nor any Prefects are around, I open the door and hear voices coming from the giant locked cubicle on the end.
"It's us," I say, closing the door behind us. There's a clunk, a splash and a gasp from within the cubicle and I see Hermione's eye peering though the keyhole.
"Harry! Emily!" she says. "You gave us such a fright. Come in, how's you arm?"
"Fine," says Harry as we squeeze into the cubicle. An old cauldron is perched on the toilet, and a crackling from under the rim tells me they have lit a fire beneath it.
"So what we doing?" I ask. "What's the plan, superman?"
"Did you seriously just say that?" Elinor asks, raising an eyebrow.
"What? Damon Salvatore said it, therefore it must be cool. Judge me, he's gorgeous."
Vampire Diaries for the win!
"We've decided to get started on the Polyjuice Potion," Ron explains, as I lock the cubicle again. "We've decided this is the safest place to hide it."
Harry starts to tell them about Colin, but Maya interrupts. "We already know, we heard Professor McGonagall telling Professor Flitwick this morning. That's why we decided we'd better get going -"
"The sooner we get a confession out of Malfoy, the better," snarls Ron. "D'you know what I think? He was in such a foul temper after the Quidditch match, he took it out on Colin."
"There's something else," I say, watching Hermione tearing bundles of knotgrass and throwing them into the potion. "Dobby came to visit us in the middle of the night."
Ron, Hermione, Maya and El stare at us, amazed. Harry tell them everything Dobby told us - or didn't tell us. They listen with open mouths.
"The Chamber of Secrets has been opened before?" says Elinor.
"This settles it," says Ron in a triumphant voice. "Lucius Malfoy must've opened the Chamber when he was at school here and now he's told dear old Draco how to do it. It's obvious. Wish Dobby'd told you what kind of monster's in there, though. I want to know how come nobody's noticed it sneaking round the school."
