I spent the months after that second-first date spending more and more time with Collin and more time working. He spent what time he could sitting at the counter during my shifts, keeping me entertained during the lulls and keeping Phoebe's in business as Alice would joke.

I spent most of the down time working on math, complaining to Colin about the stupidity of Algebra 2.

"When am I even going to use this?" I groaned one day.

"Just finish your homework so we can hangout after your shift." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Easy enough for you to say, math whiz."

He shook his head and returned his focus to his open calculus 3 book. I shook my head again, and turned my attention to the register where a queue was forming to pay.

I helped the line and retreated to the back of the diner, pulling my phone out of my apron pocket, pulling up an equation I had seen earlier, and scribbled it onto a space piece of paper.

Exiting the back, I handed my paper to Collin.

"Here, solve this." I smiled too wide.

"9x-7i>3(3x-7u)? Isn't this a bit simple for Algebra 2?"

"Just solve it ya doofus."

"I is less than three U, it's super easy Lottie." He looked at me after a moment. "Are you sure you don't need help in math?"

"Okay shut your mouth for two seconds and look at the damn symbols." I rolled my eyes as he wrote it out.

"I don't see ho-oh." He looked down at the paper for a second longer, than up at me.

"You're dumb for a smart kid." I laughed.

He looked at me with fake annoyance, which broke into a smile.

"I heart you too." He shook his head, still smiling.

Three hours later my shift was over, and Collin decided he wanted to do something, despite my pseudo tiredness he dragged me to his car, promising to take me back here after we were finished.

"I haven't even changed, what if this won't work Collin, just seriously-"

"You'll be fine, calm down jeez. "

I glare in his direction, and reluctantly duck into the passengers seat. Collin started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, and refused to answer my questions of where he was taking me.

"I will call the police and tell them you're kidnapping me Collin I swear, this is so rude."

Collin turned to face me momentarily, and rolled his eyes, before returning his eyes to the road and shaking his head.

"That's an empty threat and you know it. Besides we're basically here. Just hush." Collin pulled the car into another parking lot, and parked it where it was facing trees. He opened his door and popped his trunk, pulling out a blanket and coming around to stand by my door.

"I don't know Col, this still seems pretty kidnap-y to me."

Collin sighed exasperatedly, and tugged my arm, pulling me out of the car, and taking my hand in his, before leading me off through the trees

After around ten minutes of walking we arrived at a clearing, with a clear view of the sky, and the very end of the sunset. Collin spread the blanket on the ground and I looked at him suspiciously.

"Seriously, you're going to murder me here, I'm getting a bad vibe."

"Just shut up and sit down with me."

The stars came out slowly, as I sat next to Collin, talking about anything that came out of my mouth. I watched the sky, and watched the stars reflect in Collin's eyes, and in that moment, I knew that I really did love him.
