Unexpected turn

Marienette's pov/
'How? How could I think that he'd love me? I was so foolish' I think.
"Mari! There's a nice boy here to see you!" my mom calls
"Coming mom!"
I head downstairs hoping it's not Adrien. It's not. To my surprise it Nathaniel.
"Hey Marienette." he smiles at me.
"Hey Nathaniel." I smile back
"I was wondering i-if maybe y-you'd want to um" he looks down "go on a d-date with me?"
I was touched. I knew Nathaniel liked me but I didn't know he'd actually ask me out.
"I'd love to." I smile at him.
He looks shocked "Really?"
"Definitely" I nod "When and where?" I ask
His eyes light up "Does the park sound okay?" he sounds so excited "I was hoping we could just have a picnic?"
"That sounds perfect!" I jump at the idea "I can bring snacks?"
"Awesome!" he thinks for a second "How about an hour after school?"
I totally forgot my mom was watching when she said
"As long as you don't stay out too late and finish your homework when you got back." she tries to sound serious but I can tell she's giggling which excitement.
"I will mom." then I look back at Nathaniel "See you tomorrow!"
He nods "See you tomorrow"

Adrien's pov/
'I will prove my love for her. I'm sure of it' I walk into class school expecting to see Marienette next to Alyssa and Nino. But instead she's with Nathaniel. And 'Is she smiling? Is she laughing?' I walk over to Alya.
"Hey Alya." I say
"Hi Adrien." she says coldly.
"What's Marinette doing with Nathaniel?" I question
"Why?" she asks
"No reason just curious."
"Nathaniel asked Mari on a date yesterday." she says "She said yes. So their making plans."
'A date?!?' why do I feel so jealous? It takes all my will power not to go up to him and tell him to back off.
"Oh." I feel my face fall "Okay."
"Yeah. I gotta go." she explains "See you in class Nino."
As she walks away I see she and Marienette go and talk.
"Dude." Nino nudges me "Are you okay man?"
"Yeah." I say "I'm fine." I lie to him. I sit down and try to pay attention. But my mind's taken up on how I can prove my love to Marienette before it's too late.

Marienette's pov/                                                                                                                                                                                 I laugh with Nathaniel. How haven't I noticed before? He's cute, funny, and really talented. I try to ignore the fact that Adrien asked Alya why i was with Nathaniel.                                                                              " So I'll meet you in the park?" He asks.                                                                                                                                  " Hmm?" I lose my thoughts " Of course. See you there." I smile hoping that'll make up for not paying attention.                                                                                                                                                                                              It works. He smiles back at me " Great. See you Mari." he walks off down the street and disappears.          I didn't notice that someone walked up next to me so I jump at the other voice. " Guess you already moved on?"                                                                                                                                                                                          I can't look at him right now so I focus on the ground " No. But I can't go out with you because you don't love me."  I whisper.                                                                                                                                                              " Marientte. I do love you. What if we went on a date too?" he asks the blood rushing to his cheeks.        " That wouldn't be fair to Nathaniel would it?" I ask.                                                                                                       " W-well n-no, but y-you're not a thing so i-it wouldn't make a difference." he stutters and blushes.          " Well...you make a point there." I internally giggle. I can't believe I made him stutter and blush.              " So will you?" his eyes look at me filled with hope. I can't resist his eyes.                                                             I think " Fine. One date. And if you make me believe then I'll go out with you again. But that only happens if you make me believe."                                                                                                                                              His eyes light up " Yes! I accept. You set up the place and time. You won't regret this." he runs off " I promise." His words fade in the distance.

God, I can't believe this right now. I have make her believe. This is my chance to know her better. I have to get this right.
