"Bloody hell. No, that is not the right spell either, Aiden." We weren't even halfway through charms and he had already managed to get himself into a fuss. We were meant to be working on it project, which happened to be we were given multiple situations which could be fixed using a certain spell."Alright. This should be an easy one. Your fizzing whizzbang goes out of control and sparks fire on the lawn."
After a moment of thought, he nodded his head and answered. "Aquamenti." As he scribbled it down on our shared parchment.
"Okay. That's the last one then. Go turn that in, will you? Potions next. I heard Marie Litchfield just saying that we're doing bookwork."
"Damn it. You're gonna have to help me a lot." He muttered, rubbing his forehead.
~~
"Well, Litchfield was totally wrong." Aiden muttered as he swung open Slughorns door and marched out, as I was in close pursuit. We hadn't actually done any bloody bookwork, we had started learning a new potion, and he was partnered with a Hufflepuff that was apparently quite obnoxious. We were completely unprepared, which seemed to have put Aiden in a foul mood.
"Oh god damn it." He muttered mostly to himself, as he slipped his potions book back in this bag and pulled out his timetables. "Transfiguration." He looked to me with a grimace.
"Oh come on, you like transfiguration!" I whined. "You make classes boring when you're upset."
He looked at me and sarcastically smiled, before sighing deeply and pulling out his notes from last week, scanning quickly over the parchment before breathing yet another sigh, but this one of relief.
"I actually know what I'm going for once." He said wistfully before carefully folding up his notes and sliding them into his bag.
"Good, because when we're together, I'm the brains AND the brawn. Get it together, Wood." I said with a laugh.

Sitting down to lunch after transfiguration with the group, James was very involved in talking to Spencer and Fred in hushed tones. Throwing a piece of tomato from my salad was just enough to grab his attention, in which he immediately changed his demeanor from serious to best brother ever. Which, I'll admit, caught me off guard a bit.
"Mornin Jo, how'd your classes go?" His voice said in an unusually sweet tone.
"Well, you?" I asked in return, skeptical of his answer.
"Lovely." He replied, taking a large bite of his sandwich with a big smile. This couldn't be good. For Montague, anyways.
"So, what have you been up to that's put you into such a grand ole mood?"
"Oh nothing! Just been a great day so far." He said quickly before standing up and walking out with a quick goodbye. The rest of the gang followed suit, jogging a bit to catch up with him. I grabbed my satchel and made my way out of the halls and towards the astronomy tower, in which I would have my only astronomy class for the week.
With the Slytherins.
~~
"She's not here yet." Emily said I stepped into the small, cramped room that is the astronomy tower, 4 minutes late.
"Well that's good for me I guess. Where is she?"
"Lord knows." Dom said, kicking her feet up onto our small, rounded table. "She could literally be anywhere."
"Speaking of lost people, I haven't seen the boys yet either. Where are they this period?" Emmy asked.
"Well," I thought, "Aiden has double Herbology with Spencer, but Freddie, James, and Drew should all be here." Taking another look around the room, I also noticed a few other tables empty and made sure to say so.
"Where is everyone today?" Dom exclaimed just as Trelawney busted in, breathing heavily and beginning a long rant about the crazy morning she'd been through and how 'she just had to go talk to Dumbledore ASAP because she was worried about the way she had read her tea that morning and thought she may have had a deadly disease' was all I was able to process before she began talking utter nonsense.
~~
Opening the latch door and leaving the astronomy tower, I felt grateful to not have been blessed with a double period of that god awful class.
"Why were you so late?" Emmy nudged Drew as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I, Uhh.." He trailed off, doing his best to think of an excuse that could fool our Emmy. Fred shot me a wink as I cut off Drew's thought process.
"They were late because James dragged them off to go beat the shit out of a good for nothing Slytherin." I spat out, turning to James. "Isn't that right?"
"Yea. But he totally deserved it! He-" He defended, trying to make himself appear innocent.
"That's why you are the best brother ever." I said, jumping him with a hug as I hopped on his back, to his confusion.
"Onwards!" I called, my arms around his neck as I pointed forward with one hand. As my friends chuckled and we walked on, James whispered quietly for me to hear,
"No one will mess with you, Jo, as long as you have me."
