A couple of years have passed since you and Rin began dating. The two of you had been through everything together, and so the two of you have grown much more closer to each other, to the point that your love was like of Romeo and Juliet's. However, all your dreams of your future with him shattered when you were informed about the severe condition of your health.

The sky was clear and blue, and the sun was shining bright. Rin invited you on a day out together around the town. This time, he was obviously feeling just like on your first date: very nervous. His palms were sweating a lot, and he often stuttered in his words. He had also brought a tiny bag with him, and he had always been constantly checking the inside. Later on in the day, both of you wanted to take a rest from all your walking by sitting at one of the outside tables at a nearby cafe.

After your orders were served from a waitress, the atmosphere between you and the shark became silent. You thought that now was the time to tell him about your illness, since you don't intend to keep it a secret. You took a sip of your (favorite drink) and cleared your throat.

"There's something I want to tell you," you two said in unison. Your cheeks turned pink as you laughed it off. "You can go first, Rin."

"No, you go first, (Y/N). After all, ladies first," he replied, chuckling a bit.

Your hearty expression immediately changed to a depressing look. You twiddled your fingers, searching your thoughts for the right words to say. "Rin, I..." Tears were beginning to form in your eyes. "I-I don't think I can go farther in this relationship anymore."

Rin dropped his cup of coffee onto the ground. "W-What did you say? I didn't quite get t-that." When he heard nothing from you, he slammed his elbows on the table, shouting while his eyes started to well up, "What did I do to deserve this?!! No, no, no. Y-You can't end it right now. Tell me why, (Y/N), and maybe we can work things out!!"

You wiped off the tears that were trickling down your cheeks. "I have a severe cardiovascular illness. It's been present in me for a while, and mere treatments wouldn't cure me, even the slightest. I-If I don't get treated, I would die, and I don't want you to grieve for me when we're still in a relationship, so I'm letting go of you early."

"No, (Y/N), I'm not going to agree to this break up. But, shouldn't there be a way to cure your condition?"

You looked down. "The doctor said that heart transplant would be the only option, but the chances of survival aren't high if I wanted to live longer. And even if I survived, I still would experience some memory loss. I'm scared of all of these, Rin," you said with a shaky voice.

Rin took your hand and grasped it tightly. "Just do it, (Y/N). I want you to keep on living your life. You have so many people who care so much for you. No matter what would happen, I'm going to make that new heart of yours beat for me the same way it does right now. I'm going to let you learn to love me again. Just wait and see."

You smiled widely, going up to him for a tight embrace. "Thank you, Rin. I love you a lot."

Days have gone by quickly, and it was the date of your surgery. You had been utterly nervous on this life-or-death decision you've made. If it weren't for you boyfriend, Rin, you would've fainted by now. When everything was set, and you were transferred onto a rolling bed, the maroon haired swimmer wrapped his palm around your hand for the last time, bidding you goodbye as he passionately kissed your lips. The final scene you saw before entering the surgery room was your boyfriend standing in front of the doors, brushing his cheeks with the back of his hand as if he was crying in melancholy.

Finally, after hours of waiting outside the surgery room, the doors swung open. Rin immediately hoisted himself up. The doctor who stepped outside approached him. "Are you the husband of our patient, (Y/Full/N)?"

"Ah, not yet," he replied.

"Oh, I see. Anyways, I would like to say that the operation went smoothly. My assistants are wrapping up. (Y/N) will be able to exit the surgery room in a couple of minutes. However, it may take her a day to three until she wakes up."

"Thank you very much, doctor!" He bowed down in gratitude.

When your transplant was completed, your slumbering body was brought to a more complex room with more health-related technology that was beside the bed. Rin stood by your side, not hesitating to let you leave his sight. He had been sitting at the exact same spot, patiently waiting for your eyes to flutter open. At last, the third day, you've awoken from your deep sleep. The shark quickly woke up, too, from a nap when he sensed your fingers moving.

"(Y/N), you're awake!" He exclaimed, plastering a grin. "How are you feeling? Do you recognize me?"

You squinted, tilting your head. "I'm feeling fine. Um..." You tried your best to analyze his face, but to no avail, you couldn't remember. "...I'm sorry, I-I don't think I do."

Rin smiled in an obviously fake manner. He scratched the back of his head, chuckling. "That's right... Agh, it hurts harder that I thought it would be." He placed his hand on where his heart is, clenching his shirt. "I'm going to get some fresh air, (Y/N)." He then stormed off; he was definitely disappointed.

Rin entered the nearby balcony and stared off to the sky that had a beautiful orange to blue gradient. He sighed, thinking aloud, "Dang it, why doesn't she remember me? I was so confident at first, but now it seems like my heart is hollow that I can't move on."

"Rin?"

Upon hearing the tone of the voice, he immediately turned his head around and was surprised to witness what he had just saw.

In front of him was you, who had brought your wheeled stand which held your bag of dextrose all the way to the balcony. "Rin," you called.

Your boyfriend could not help but to run towards you to give you the tightest hug you can imagine. Tears of relief and happiness were rolling down his face. You giggled, knowing that Rin was still the crybaby that he usually is.

He stopped at the middle of your embracement. "Ah, I got something to ask to you ever since. He got out a tiny (favorite color) box and knelt down with one knee. He opened up the box and revealed a precious engagement ring.

"(Y/N), will you marry me?"
