Warmth of a Scarf, Warmth of Your Heart - Rei One Shot

(Sorry for the long wait ><" I thought I had published this chappie on Rei's bday, but it somehow didn't?)

Happy birthday, Rei~!

And since it's his birthday, there's a special one shot for you readers ^o^ Enjoy~

It was that time of the year again: winter season. Not only that the town looks lovely and appealing, with all the snowy pavements and the crystallized water that formed beneath the branches of the trees, but it was also your cold.

Your cold lasts all throughout the season. You hated your low immune system, especially because every time you feel like doing something, such as hanging out with your friends or walking to the refrigerator , you can't keep yourself from staying on your bed, wrapped in your warm futon like a human burrito.

Tomorrow, it was the birthday of someone special in your heart: Rei, and you do not even want to miss it since it's his first ever birthday that you would celebrate together as a couple. And so, you forced yourself to plan a date with him, while him unknown yet about your condition.

When that day arrived, you dressed up in your best clothes: a (f/c) dress that goes down to your knees, (black/white) stockings that keep your legs warm, a puffy (f/c) sweater that is a few shades lighter than your dress, comfortable boots with fuzzy fur, a pair of gloves, and a matching beanie.  As for the gift, you've been knitting a lengthy, purple scarf for him that you plan on giving at the end of the date. The only thing to stress about left is your physical condition.

You were to meet at the train station. Fortunately, it didn't took you a long wait for him to arrive. You stood up the bench you were sitting on and gave out an involuntary smile when you saw Rei in your sight. "Rei! Happy birthday!" You grinned, giving him a hug.

He chuckled. "Thank you very much, (Y/N). Did you wait too long?"

"No, not really. I can't wait to spend the whole day with you celebrating your birthday. I promise I would make this year your year's sweetest birthday~--"

You let out a sneeze. The blue haired man looked at you with concern. "(Y/N), are you feeling okay?" He brought out his handkerchief and lent it to you.

You took it and wiped your snot. "I-I'm feeling fine. T-Thanks.." you replied with a nasal tone. Rei sighed and wrapped an arm around you. "I-If you can't handle the climate today, then I guess I'll have to maintain your warmth by sticking by you and frequently stay inside doors."

"Really, Rei, I'll be fine. I'm not gonna limit your happiness." With that, you took his hand and went on a train, going to Sapporo.

Once you reached your destination, the two of you headed to see the snow festival held there. You knew that your boyfriend would love to see beautiful things, and it matches well with the season.

You saw different kinds of sculptures that you loved, like (favorite character), and (favorite food). Rei also saw his favorite things, as well as the beautiful ones, of course. You even witnessed people in process of making the sculptures. The two of you found it amazing and interesting, even though you had to take rests on a bench every couple of meters.

At one point, you could not stand the decreasing temperature, and so you requested for the two of you to hang out in a nearby cafe. You ordered a (favorite hot drink), and Rei ordered a cup of cappuccino. You and him drank in utter silence.

When the butterfly looked up from his coffee to you, he could see you trying your hardest to refrain yourself from sneezing and coughing. Unable to control his laughter at the unbeautiful faces you made, he chuckled heartily. "Just let it go."

Your face turned red after letting out a sneeze. "S-Shut up..!" You brought out your wallet and paid for your drinks before standing up, ready to leave.

Just then, once you were about to reach your hand out to grab the bag containing Rei's present, you were shocked to see that it was not there. You gasped, heart beating faster. Your boyfriend looked at you, puzzled. "What's wrong, (Y/N)?"

"My thingie's gone!! Ithink I've left it somewhere! I have to go find it!" With that, you rushed outside, sprinting your best.

"'T-Thingie'?? O-Oi, (Y/N), wait!!" He frantically stood up and chased you.

You began retracing your steps, from the very moment you went into the cafe. When there was no sign of it, you headed all the way back to the snow festival. You had a great feeling that it was there somewhere. You sprinted from bench to bench, scanning its surroundings as the sun fully set.

It was nighttime now, and you still could not find a trace of the gift. You stopped on your tracks and panted, coughing loudly. A few seconds later, Rei was able to reach you. "What do you think were you doing, (Y/N)?!"

"Your," you breathed heavily between words, "gift... I lost it... can't find it.." You coughed again. Rei frowned and looked around. Miraculously, the bag was seen by him below a bench covered in snow. He dashed to fetch it to you. Once your face lit up, you allowed him to open it, revealing a nicely knitted scarf that matches the color of his eyes. His purple orbs shined as he gazed upon it. "This scarf.. you made it?" he asked.

You nodded with a sneeze. "Happy birthday, Rei..."

Snow started to drift slowly down to the ground. Colorful lights lit up the dark surroundings. Everything in that moment was in a state of tranquility. Rei parted his lips to speak, thought well of words, then said, "All this time, were you feeling ill?"

You stiffly shook your head in agreement.

"And you went all through this trouble to set a date with me and discarded your condition when you set off to find your present for me?"

You nodded as well.

He smiled sweetly. He grabbed your shoulders and leaned forward for a passionate kiss. The warmth of his lips made you a lot better. When he pulled away for air, you suddenly came to a realization. "R-Rei, y-you kissed me when I'm sick..! You're going to get sick now!"

"I don't mind. As long as you feel alright, I'll be alright." He unrolled the long scarf and wrapped it around his neck, and your neck, pulling you closer to him. 

"Today is a memorable birthday, because I spent my time all with you."

Yay! You read until the end of this chappie~ Now, I'm going to start informing you at the end of every chapter what the following chapter would be in this book. I think that would be better if I did that to stay on track. ^^
