[] This is kind of a filler chapter. I believe the next one will be as well. But, this one is wicked cute, for all my hopeless romantics out there. The plot WILL progress, but these filler chapters help get the story along. Anyways, enjoy! []
ELIZA
Sirens. I hear sirens. They are muffled sirens. With my head in Kai's chest, his arms wrapped tightly around me, I heard muffled sirens. He strokes my back languidly, the strokes long and slow. My head began to spin, I was thinking about all things that could happen. I was homeless. Everything I owned was burned: my books, my diploma, old photographs. I lost such valuable stuff, it made me cry even more. I had nothing left. My whole world was slipping from my grasp.
Kai pulled away a bit, and looked down at me. He reached a hand up to my cheek, his calloused thumb wiping away my tears. But, I just cried more, my tears pouring out like a heavy rain storm.
"Eliza..." Kai said, so longingly that it made my heart ache.
I said nothing, his hand softly running through my hair.
"W-W-What...a-am I...I...g-g-going.. d-do?" I finally asked Kai, after a few moments of silence.
I cringed at the sound of my voice, weak and barely audible, but Kai heard me.
"You're gonna live with me, and I'm gonna take care of you, until you get back on to your feet."
I just nodded, unable to argue, unable to do anything but cry, and crumple.
Kai took me in his arms again, and I hid my face in his chest. He felt like a safe haven to me, some where— where I can hide. I felt so safe, and I liked that feeling a lot.He pulled away from me, "Come on, we are going back to my house. You need some rest," He said.
I again didn't argue.
I nodded, "Okay." I said, and brought my hands to my face wiping my eyes.
Kai took my hand, and he pulled me along a block or so away from the burning apartment. When no one was around he teleported with me back to his house. Kai lived in the woods, it was a nice change of scenery. The air felt so fresh and clean here, despite how polluted it was in the city. I squeezed Kai's hand, as he pulled me along into his house."Kai...?" I said, as we walked into his house. It was just like I remembered it, new but old, simple and comforting.
"Yes?"
"I have no change of clothes. This is all I have, gosh....I'm such a burden on you.."
"No, no. No, Eliza. Do not say that, this is my choice to let you stay with me. You can sleep in one of my shirts for tonight, then we will go shopping tomorrow and we will get you some new clothes and shoes, and just about everything a girl needs." He said.
He was so caring, so kind, despite what he was, he was so sincere. Tears streamed down my face.
"Oh Eliza...." He said, cupping my face with both his hands.
His thumbs wiped away my tears, he leaned in, bringing my face to his. He pressed his lips to mine softly, I welcomed his kiss by parting my lips, interlocking our lips together. He tasted of the vanilla shake he had at Hard Rock. This kiss was soft, but possessive. It was nice, it made me feel a little better. A few moments later Kai pulled away. I looked up into his eyes, he stroked my cheeks with his thumbs. He took one hand off, and kissed my cheek.
I smiled, and he smiled back at me, "There's that pretty smile." He said.
His compliment made me smile even more.
He chucked, "Come on, you need sleep. Just to forget about things for a little whole, and to rest." He said.
I nodded, and followed him to his bedroom. I saw him walk over to his dresser, and he pulled out a blue flannel, and handed it to me.
"Here," he said. "The bathroom is the next door over to your right."
"Okay," I said, following his directions, with the blue shirt in hand.
I walked into the bathroom, I closed the door, looking into the mirror. I could see my eyes were puffy and blood shot from crying. I cringed at how ugly my face looked. I shook my head softly, I just needed sleep— like Kai said.
I quickly changed, just wearing his shirt, and my undergarments. I walked back into the bedroom, Kai immediately took notice, and I saw his dark eyes look me up and down.
I blushed, "Kai, please."
He shook his head lightly, "Sorry, sorry. I was too caught up in your beauty."
"I look awful." I objected.
"No. No, you don't. You will always be beautiful, whether you are happy, sad, or mad....et cetera. Well— to me at least."
