Cassie sat down on the floor, looking around.

She saw Ben walking towards her with a mysterious look on her face.

"Something up?" Cassie asked.

"Oh no. I was just wondering if there were any sardines left." Ben said, blushing.

"Sardines?" Cassie grimaced. "No, we ran out this morning." Cassie blushed a bit but tried to hide it by looking the other way.

"Oh, that's ok. I guess I'll just eat some beef jerky then." Ben said, sitting down next to Cassie. "So what are we going to do Cassie?" Ben smiled, trying to hide his embarrassment.

"I don't know." Protecting people like Teacup and Lizbeth are important. And Sammy." Cassie pulled her knees closer to her chest since it was so cold.

"Cassie, you're freezing!" Ben said to her in a concerning tone. Then he put his armed around her. "Better?" Ben asked.

"Um, yeah." Cassie smiled and only blushed harder.

Lizbeth walked into the woods and spotted Ben and Cassie sitting against a tree. Ben had her arm around Cassie and was staring deep into her eyes. "What's going on here guys?" Lizbeth asked, smirking.

"Uh, nothing!" Cassie got out from underneath Ben's arm, stuttering to speak.

"Cassie, can I talk to you alone?" Lizbeth asked, glancing at a confused Ben.

Cassie agreed relentlessly and stood up to talk to Lizbeth.

"Cassie he likes you. Why don't you just tell him how you feel?" Lizbeth asked.

"Because I'm afraid that I'll screw it up."

"You won't screw it up. You guys are made for each other. Go get him Cassie!" Lizbeth walked away.

Cassie sighed and walked back over to Ben. "Sorry 'bout that."

"Cassie, I have a question. Do you like me?" Ben stuttered, barely forming words.

"What?" Cassie's eyes were practically bulging out of her head. "Did you say what I think you said?"

"Um, if you think I asked if you like me then yeah, you're right. I mean it's ok if you don't, I just want you to be honest."

"Um I, well, um-"

"Cassie, I'm tired." Sammy interrupted, clinging to Cassie like a koala on a tree."

"Sorry, I have to put Sammy to bed. We'll talk later right?"

"Right."

Ben Parish sat against the tree sighing. He just wanted to find out if his crush liked him and now he might never know.

Cassie got up and decided to go check on Teacup who had fallen asleep earlier.

Then Ben heard a scream coming from the tent. "Cassie?" He screamed

Cassie ran to Ben "What is it?" She was in a panic. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah, I heard it. Are you alright? I was worried about you Cassie."

"No, I'm fine. I went to check on Teacup."

"As long as you're with me everything will be fine." Ben put his arms around Cassie, giving her a side hug.

"Thanks."

Ben looked up at Cassie and stared into her beautiful green eyes. "Cassie?" He asked.

"Yeah?"

"Remember earlier when I asked you if you like me? I'm still wondering."

"Why wouldn't I? We're friends, of course I like you."

"You know what I meant Cassie."

Lizbeth decided to check on Cassie and Ben. She immediately spotted Ben and Cassie with their faces inches apart. "Whoa." She mumbled. "I knew it."

"Maybe. I'm just, I'm not sure yet." Cassie sighed and turned away. "I'm sorry."

Lizbeth turned around and there was Cassie with a confused look on her face. "What's wrong Cassie?" You kissed Ben, you should be happy!"

"We didn't kiss, stupid." She snapped

"But your faces were so close, I just thought-"

"No, we didn't"

"What happened then?"

"Nothing, that's all."

"Cassie, wait!" Ben shouted as Cassie walked away.

"What?" She asked

"I just- I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable."

"It doesn't matter but this does."

Cassie smashed her lips onto Ben's and he kissed her back.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you the truth Ben. I just didn't want to mess up anything between us."

"It's ok, Cassie."
