So all of you who actually replied said wolf, kinda not surprising. Thanks for not ignoring the question if you did answer! Thanks for being patient also, it's taken me a while to get around to writing this but thanks for waiting. Updates are going to be slow so bear with me.

Roy's pov

I knew the second Tucker let me in that something was wrong. I knew he'd been under stress because of this examination but the maddening glint in his eyes set my skin tingling.

He showed us this creature, a dog like thing that spoke with the distorted voice of a human. I knew it wasn't enough for him to keep his license and I think he sensed that. He mentioned a project he had in the back room, something special he wanted me to see. I followed him through the doorway and my blood ran cold.

My heart plummets and a strong sense of unease travels through me. The stench of iron and that faint burning smell every alchemist associates with a transmutation permeates the air and stings my nose but what chills me most is the sight of it.

(Y/n)....

She's lying on the floor, her hands tied behind her back and curled into a loose foetal position. Surrounding her is a transmutation circle, marred with blood and small puddle of sick. I see red.

My hand is around Tucker's throat before he can move and I slam him against the wall, throwing my other fist into his face until his body sags down in my grip and blood stains my gloves. I let him drop and approach the nightmare scene in the centre of the room. What the hell am I going to tell Maes?

"Grrrrrrrr!" I jump slightly at the growling, unsure where it's coming from. A grey lump on the floor rises and wobbles on its feet, sniffing the ground near (y/n)'s limp corpse.

A wolf?

It nudges at the pale girls hand with its cold nose and then bites at the loose sleeve of her uniform, tugging it.

I push it away with my boot, the wounded thing too frail to fight back, and kneel next to (y/n)'s body. "Hey, don't you go dying on me, idiot"

"Mmmm...I'm sorry Becky...I didn't protect you...please...forgive me." She mumbles before her eyes start to gently flutter open, blood running down her face from her eyes, mouth and nose. "Mustang? Better late than never I guess."

I huff indignantly at that remark as I wipe the blood from her face gently, anger shaking through my limbs. She whimpers faintly and once again I feel guilty for letting her go with the Elric brothers.

As I finish wiping away the scarlet tracks, her eyes crack open suddenly and she bolts upright, glancing around the room frantically only to lay her eyes on the icy blue orbs of the wolf.

"Did you just say- uh!" She clutched her head in her hands and the wolf howls in pain, shaking it's head. "Ow! Roy make it stop!"

I wrap her in my arms and hold the back of her head, feeling a dampness that can only be blood. She looks up at me and I gasp in shock; her eyes had flashed the same icy blue hue as the wolf's.

"Don't worry (y/n), it'll be fine. Did he hurt you anywhere else?" I ask slowly so she can hear me through her pain.

"He did something to my back, some weird drawing." She breathes shallowly and falls feint again, most likely from the pain.

I carefully lie her on her front, rage seeping through me as I see the back of her military jacket torn open. Although, that small reaction is nothing now compared to the loathing that courses through every fibre of my being at the sight of her back.

Precisely etched into her once perfect skin is a large circle with unfamiliar markings. It covers almost all of her back from her shoulder blades to her tailbone. The blood dribbles out of the deep wounds and drips onto the cold floor.

The cuts aren't shallow and they weren't done with care either.  Tucker you bastard! I'm going to get you for this!

"Roy?" A soft, almost silent, voice calls out weakly. "Roy...that wolf...is tethered to my soul, mind and body...please make sure it stays safe."

(Y/n)'s pov

"Please don't do this Mr Tucker!"

"I'm sorry but I need to keep my license, and if this works you'll have a loyal new friend"

"Grrrrrr! Woof!"

"I promise I won't tell anyone about this if you just let me go!"

"It's much too late for that my dear (y/n)."

"Please no! Don't! Ahhhhhh!"

"Awooooooo!"

"NO!" I bolt upright and then clutch tightly at my head to soothe the sudden sparks of pain. "Ouch!"

I look around and find myself in a strange room, not a hospital but not a bedroom. I was sleeping on a settee with a navy coat over me for warmth.

I glance around the room hopefully but nobody I want to see is here. Instead there are three other...things. One I recognise clearly as Mr Tucker. I bolt upright and back up as far as I can away from him-ending up in the corner near a large window. The second form I can see is a strange dog-like thing with soft white fur and long, brown hair.

"Daddy...she's awake.....sister is awake daddy." It crows in a slightly demonic voice. Not the voice I remember she had. No. Her voice was sweet and innocent and pure and not like this at all.

"Yes darling. Why don't you go and say hi?" As he says this not-Nina gets up and heaves herself in my direction. "Sister...sister (y/n)!"

It calls out and I flinch away from it, tears falling down my face.

"You ruined her!" I shout at the evil man. "You've completely destroyed her life and now we can't even get her back!"

"Don't shout...sister! Don't...hurt...(y/n)!" The thing cries again in that voice.

"Stop it! You're not Nina!!!" I scream but I'm stopped by a sudden voice in my head and a growl.

It's ok, I won't let her near you.

Opening my eyes I see an animal standing in front of me, hackles raised and teeth bared. Its pelt looking soft and beautiful, it's ears tipped with fur a perfect shade of midnight. The wolf in the cage; the one I chose.

Is that you in my head?

I think that question as hard as I can, getting a small glance back from my protector.

Yes, and I can hear you clearly so you don't have to say it that loudly. It? He? She? Replies. I'm male you idiot, my name is Hokori. I don't know why, but you smell like pack. Pack mates protect each other which is why you shouldn't worry about those two, I kept them away whilst you were asleep too.

Thank you, my name is (y/n), I'm an alchemist. The wolf nods and turns its attention back towards the two monsters.

Sleep (y/n), they won't touch you. And with those words softly spoken in my head I fall asleep again.
