day four ~ write something based on the quote

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Waking up in the morning, I was feeling happy. It was the second day of summer vacation, and my dancing and singing audition was later on today. Ever since I could walk, I have always been dancing, and I've been singing since I was 5. It has been 12 years since my first ever dance class. I was 6 when I started. And today is when I could finally fulfill my dream of becoming a professional dancer and singer.

Getting out of bed, I quickly pulled on a pair of short and a tank top, along with my usual pair of black flats. I stretched my still sleepy muscles and looked at myself in the mirror. Grey eyes stared back at me, messy brown waves surrounding a round face, with a button nose and full baby pink lips. I yawned, attempting to get knots out of my hair, and pulled the hair into a messy bun.

Walking downstairs, I was running through my audition pieces in my head, practicing any moves which could prove difficult, singing notes which could be troublesome. I spotted dad in the kitchen, eating breakfast, and reading his usual newspaper.

"Morning." I chirped and set about getting a bowl of cereal for myself.

"Good morning, how did you sleep?" he asked casually, an edge to his voice which I couldn't identify.

"I slept fine, or at least, I tried to." I laughed, sitting down at the table. "So dad, anything interesting in the news?"

"Not really." he answered, putting the newspaper down, his expression serious. "We need to have a talk."

"About?" I wondered, looking at my dad with worry. Did I do something? What was going on?

"About your audition. Dancers don't make a lot of money, and only one in a hundred, or even thousand, makes a good career out of it. I don't think you're ready for that. It's one thing to dance as a child, and another to try make a career out of it."

I was shocked. He knew how much dancing meant to me, and how much I wanted this audition. Heck, he didn't even say anything about singing. A chance like this never happened, it was so rare that SM Entertainment held auditions, especially here, in Australia. It was once in a lifetime opportunity, and my dad wanted to take it away from me?

"I was hoping that after you finish schooling, you could take over the business. We would run it together for a few years, until I could retire and you could fully take over. How does that sound to you?"

"So you want me to give up on my dreams dad? It's the beginning of summer, I just finished school, and you already want to hire me into your business? You know I have no interest in business and accounting."

"Once you get used to it, you'll like it honey." he tried, only making me feel angry.

"Dad, I was named Melody for a reason, and you know that!" I shouted, standing up, and running to my room.

Before I was born, mum was a part time dancer, and dad was a musician. That's how they met, when the producer asked dad to compose a piece for mum to dance to. It was almost like love at first sight. I was born a few years later, and named Melody to celebrate the love to music and dance in the family. But when I was 7, my parents went on tour, where mum fell ill. They had to cancel the whole tour, because she was unable to perform. She came home with dad, looking sick and pale, and died a few days after. Dad tried to be the strong one, but couldn't take it, destroying every single instrument in the house, and took up business and accounting instead, growing to be the CEO of the company. And from that day, he never wanted to do anything with music, nor did he want me to get involved with it.

~~~ later ~~~
I looked at my phone, and it showed 5.23pm, meaning only 7 minutes until it was my turn. When my name was called, I took a deep breath and stepped forward. The music started playing, and I steadied myself, remembering the lyrics. I was a big fan of SM Entertainment, and even a bigger fan of Girls' Generation, so I chose one of their songs. "Time Machine" was one of my favourite songs, and it meant so much to me.
I took the first step and started signing, letting go of all my worries, not letting the disagreement with my dad get in the way. I zoned out, concentrating on the song, the dance, the lyrics, not thinking about the judges sitting in front of me watching every step. Since the song didn't have an official dance, I had to make it up, combining ballet with gymnastics. All too soon the song finished, and I stood in the middle of the dance floor, legs apart and bent with one arm to the side and one straight up. I curtsied, blinking the tears from my eyes, and sitting back down. One of the judged murmured a thank you and called up the next person.
~~~ a little later ~~~

"Thank you all for coming today. If I call your name, please stay behind. The rest of you, please proceed to the exit." - announced one of the judges, a tall female with a blond bob and blue eyes.

"Annabelle. Elena. Lauren. Jessica. Han. Melody."

Wait, what? Did I just hear my name? I must have been dreaming. I pinched my leg, and no, I wasn't dreaming. That was confirmed when another of the judges, a short man with black hair, handed me a sealed envelope with my name neatly written on it. I couldn't believe it, I was accepted, and I was now officially part of SM Entertainment. I could work with my favourite K-Pop stars.

I saw my dad waiting for me in the lounge room, and ran up to him, giving him a tight hug, tears starting to stream down my face.

"D-Dad, I got accepted." I stammered through the tears, trying to breathe, and showed him the envelope.

"Congratulations!" he said and we opened the envelope, looking at what was inside.There was a congratulations letter, a contract, a visa, plane tickets and dates of departure and my new address. I would be leaving on the last day of summer holidays. There was a note on the side whom to contact, in case dad wanted to move as well, but last time I checked, he couldn't and didn't want to leave his company.

Sweet and sour, happy and sad, but my dreams were fulfilled. I was able to move to South Korea, and sing and dance to my hearts content, but I had to leave my family. Dad will be okay, he's usually at work early and stays till late, so not really seeing me will be nothing new. I stood up for what I wanted, and I got there in the end.

A/N: Hmm, so I really hope you guys liked this... I wasn't sure what to write about, so I wrote about one of my dreams, which isn't very likely to be fulfilled, since I want to be a vet, and dancing is just a side hobby. Though it would be awesome to go to SK and meet Soshi. Everyone can dream, and my head is full of dreams. On the side is the video of "Time Machine" in case you guys want to hear one of my favourite songs ^^

Please let me know what you think, I'd really appreciate it ~
