the next day you came over. It looked like there was a weight on your shoulders, a weight you could not shake off. When I asked you how you were, you did not answer. You just began to play with my cat.

we spoke for hours after that. About anything at all. I wanted to tell you I loved you, it was on the tip of my tongue. I was too afraid to do it.

you spoke about the ocean and how you wanted to see it before you died. I wondered why you had never seen it before in your life. You told me it was because your parents were too busy for vacations growing up. You still loved them though.

it was getting late and you knew that. You got up and asked me to walk you to the door. I did. I followed you to my front door like a puppy, too in love to think for itself.

that's when you kissed me. I wasn't expecting it, but I kissed you back. It was like I was finally feeling the joy I needed to feel.

when you pulled away, you smiled. It was a sad smile, which confused me.

"Good bye Josh," you said as you turned to open the door.

"Good night Tyler," I said.

I love you! I screamed internally as you walked out the door and I shut it behind you.

only then did I realize you had been crying.
