3 hours later...it's 7:00 p.m.::Rainee::
I'd been waiting forever. Finally, I could hear heavy footsteps coming down the hallway.
"Rain? Are you awake?" Alejandro called.
I got the piece of wood from under pillow, and stood in front of the door. I heard the jingling of keys, and the doorknob wiggled. As soon as it opened, I lunged at Alejandro stabbed him in his shoulder.
"Aaaaahhhhh!!!!" He yelled, collapsing to the floor.
I rushed to Maria's crib, and picked her up. Alejandro lay on the floor, wheezing in pain, and lightly touching the piece of wood in his shoulder.
"Alejandro?! What happened?!" I heard Celia call.
I looked down at Alejandro. He looked at me.
"Unlike you, I'm not a fucking psycho murderer. Consider this mercy," I said.
I swiftly kicked him in his face, which knocked him unconscious. I grabbed the keys to his truck from his jeans pocket, and shoved them into mine. Then Celia rushed into the hallway.
As soon as she saw Alejandro, she gasped, putting her hands up to her mouth."What did you do to my little brother?! You killed him?! You BITCH!" She screamed.
She began to run towards me. I ran towards her, and kicked her in the stomach real hard, causing her to fall. She hit her head onto the floor, and SHE was unconscious, too. Maria began to softly cry.
"It's gonna be okay, Maria. We're gonna get you out of here," I said, stroking her face.
I rushed downstairs to Chelsea.
"I'm gonna get you out, Chelsea. Just...hold on.
All while holding my daughter, I quickly shuffled through the many keys on the keychain, and found a key labeled, "Basement chains". I keeled down, and quickly unlocked the chains.
Immediately, Chelsea softly hugged me.
"I'm so glad you're okay, Rain. She's gorgeous," Chelsea said, looking at Marie.
Marie smiled for the first time. I gasped, and kissed her forehead.
"Let's get outta here," Chelsea said, going to the stairs.
I followed after her. Right when Chelsea was on the third to top step, Alejandro appeared at the opening of the steps from around the corner. With a gun. He immediately shot Chelsea in her head, before she could even react.
"NO! CHELSEA!!!" I screamed.
I was right behind Chelsea. I knew she would fall onto me, so I covered Marie up the best way possible. We fell down the steps, but fortunately, I landed on my back, and Marie was safe.
Unable to move from pain, I just stared at Alejandro.
"This... is the worst rule you've eever broken, Rain. I-I don't think I can forgive you for it, either. Right, Celia?" Alejandro said.
Celia walked up next to him.
"I think not. I couldn't possibly forgive anyone who has hurt my brother."
"Your... little kick to the face may have hurt like hell, but... it could never knock me out. I was faking. And so was Celia. And truth be told, I intended to shoot YOU, not Chelsea. See, I assumed that YOU would be the first to come upstairs, but Chelsea saved you. I was going to make HER play my game. So I had a change of plans. We're gonna play a game, Rain. You see, I KNEW that you'd attack me with one of the wooden bars on Marie's cradle, the moment I bought it. I knew you'd go right downstairs to get Chelsea. But I was going to kill YOU. Chelsea was supposed to play, but now that I think about it, it would be a lot more fun if YOU played, instead. So, I set traps throughout the forest, according to my game. Life here, got so boring. You, just sitting in your room, all day, doing nothing. So, I told myself, 'let's spice things up a bit.' And you're gonna participate, whether you want to, or not. It's called the 'Survival Game'. Where Celia and I chase you down, trying to kill you. Your only weapons are a bow and arrow, but it's better than nothing. Okay, babe? Celia and I will probably win, so I'll say this, now: It was nice knowing you, Rain."
Alejandro and Celia slowly walked downstairs.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I yelled.
Alejandro began to reach for Marie, but I held on tighter.
"Don't worry, I have something for you to carry her in. And if you don't hand her over, just for a sec, I won't hesitate to shoot you, right here," Alejandro said.
He handed Marie to Celia, and she walked back upstairs. Alejandro yanked me up, and carried back upstairs, on his shoulder. In the kitchen, Celia was holding a baby carrier, for me to wear. Alejandro put me back down, and held onto to me, while Celia put the baby carrier onto me. Then, she strapped Marie in.
Alejandro then reached into the drawer next to him, and handed me the bow and arrows. Then he stood there.
" When I start counting, you'll have ten seconds to get out of the house. You'll have two minutes to get as far away as possible. That should be enough time. You were in track for five years. However, don't expect to find any other people, around here. You're in the middle of nowhere," Alejandro explained.
I'm going to win this game of his, no matter what it takes. Whether I kill them, or let them live.
"10...9.." Alejandro began.
I immediately sprinted out of the house, and into the woods. I smiled to myself, knowing that Alejandro made a mistake.
I won the National Archery Competition. All five years in a row.
