Chapter 6:Help me

Maya's point of view

I looked around in panick.It was dangerous here and I don't know why I agreed to come.I finally decided to take out my phone and text Riley,My hands were shaking and sweating.
It was dark here,but no one will see me pull up my phone and call for back up.Thousands of people rushed around,making me lose my balance but I caught myself in time.I looked up at the contacts until I found Riley's name in big letters and hearts around it.
   Maya:HELP ME!!!!
I typed in big captions,I hesitated but finally pressed send.I waited until she replied back.But she's probably not gonna respond until it's too late,she's probably gonna leave me stranded and-Oh!my phone beeped.
Riley:WHO DIED?!!!!???
I laughed.Why would Riley think someone died.she must be crazy.
Maya:no one!!! my mom took me shopping and she's making me try on high heels😩
Riley:Maya!you had me really worried ,I thought it was important
Maya:this is important,it's child abuse!!!
Riley:Maya,ugh,I need to........
Maya:Bay window?
Riley:Bay window
Maya:I'll be there in a few...
Riley:okay
I looked around for my mom and tried to walk in the heels I had on.I almost fell.
And for real.I tripped on a women's foot that was sticking out while she tried to shove a small heel on her big foot. I picked myself up before I fell...No I didn't.
I stumbled around and lost my balance,preparing to fall on the hard wooden floor.This was terrifying,I could get a splinter or something.Before I could fall,somebody caught me.

I got out of their grip quickly.This was the most awkward thing I ever experienced in my whole life.I fixed my hair and out my hands on my sides,"you okay,Ma'm?"
"Totally!"I said way to quickly and looked at the male who caught me.My eyes widen.
"Farkle,what are you doing here??"I asked and smiled,He laughed and shrugged."My big sister forced me to come with her to try out,Red-feet holders or something?"he said.Looking around,"she's in the dressing room trying on something now,what are you doing here?is the real question,Maya hart doesn't do high-heels".

"Well-"I blushed and looked around."my mother and I came here,she wanted me to try out something,"pretty and lady like?"for her wedding,but I was just leaving to go meet Riley by the bay window"I said and smiled.Farkle looked at me weirdly and looked around.
"But,isn't your mom poor or something?"Farkle asked.Ouch,that hurt.
But I didn't show it,I nodded,not letting out a big breathe I had swallowed in."yeah-"my voice cracked,"yes farkle,my family is poor,but Shawn is helping us out with the shopping"I smiled."Bye now,Farkle"
"Maya!"he said and followed me,now realizing his words hurt."I'm sor-"
"It's fine,farkle!"I said angrily,"I'm fine,it's fine,I'm okay,I'm always okay"
"Maya,but I messed up,I was wrong"Farkle shrugged,"farkle is never wrong and I want to fix this-"
"No,it's okay"I smiled,"you were telling the truth anyway"

Riley's point of view

"Peaches!!!"I smiled but didn't go up to hug her,my voice was sad and she noticed.
"What's wrong riles?"she questioned and sat by the bay window,"What did you want to talk about?"she asked and I took a big breath and smiled."Lucas"I said,"I want to talk about Lucas".Of course,all our conversations in lunch and in school are about Lucas.Lucas,Lucas,Lucas everywhere,Lucas everything.If only he didn't turn on us.

"Huckleberry-"Maya started and she looked at me,"why the hell would you want to talk about huckleberry,I really see no poin-
"His name is Lucas,Maya-"I interrupted her sentence and continued talking."we need to talk about what happened in Texas,we need to sort out our feelings,we need to talk about what's happening now and why!"I said loudly.Then calmed myself down quickly,I sighed.
"We can't keep our feelings inside us forver,Maya"I smiled as she looked aWay,"best friends should tell eachother everything,don't you think?".She nodded.

"Yes,Riley,I agree"she smiled,"Texas.Honestlt,I was confused"I didn't interrupt Maya,I let her continue even though I don't wanna hear her talk about her crush on Lucas,her crush on my Prince Charming."I didn't know what was happening,Riley"she paused,"I didn't know my feeling for Lucas there,I was confused back then,but I'm not anymore,not now,and I'm most sure of myself that I don't like huckleberry the way I though I did"wait,what?
This is-unexpected.Looks like me and Lucas are gonna have our happy ending after all.
"You don't like Lucas?"I asked,trying to hide my smile,"but,didn't you feel something when he kissed you?"I asked.Maya laughed.
"Me and huckleberry never kissed,Riley!"she bursted out laughing,what was so funny?
"Why would you ever think that?"she asked and I rolled my eyes.Patting her back.
"So,you don't like him anymore?"I asked,not feeling bad for grinning widely.Maya smiled.
"Never have,Never will"she smiled,"plus,I'm going on a date with someone this Friday"

"Your gonna skip the party?"I asked,"Maya,you said you'll bring me and farkle!!!"I said in panick."were you lying to me,are you gonna bail on me,are you gonna leave me and farkle alone in the party?"I asked really fast.but then stopped and waited for Maya to respond.
"There's no way I'm gonna bail on you,or leave you in any way"Maya told me,"yes,it's on Friday,but it's while partying,and besides,Lucas will be there to take care of you and farkle"
"Lucas"I breathed,nodding,"yeah,he's changed Maya,I don't know if I can accept it!"

"Riley,Lucas hasn't changed"Maya looked at me seriously."Lucas is the same Lucas he always has been,And you don't have to accept his change of you don't want to,you just have to be there for him"Maya's right,Soulmates are meant to be side by side,My Prince Charming is meant to be by my side,and I'm his princess,I'm meant to be by his side.I nodded.
"You're right Maya"I smiled,"you're always right"she smiled at me and chuckled,
"Just promise me this"I added and the room got quiet."That we won't let anyone that's not farkle come between our friendship,Farkle is our best friend and the only man in our lives"
She nodded."I promise Riley"She smiled,"I'll always be there for you,always"
"It's settled then"I smiled,"You have no feelings for Lucas,Lucas has joined the popular side,it's me,you,and farkle,likes it's always been and always will be,best friends,with or without Lucas".
