In the mirror an incredibly lovely face with green eyes, cameo skin and soft, smiling lips stared back at her.
Standing there like a vision from heaven was an unknown girl 18 years old clad in a beautiful shimmering red dress, that she had herself picked.

Her smile dropped as her scrutinising gaze moved from her green eyes down to her straight nose and full lips, to someone else the vision might have been enchanting but to her it wasn't. When finding everything usual as always it is, her hands moved through her golden locks that framed her face perfectly. But to her they weren't that striking. Staring at her vision her hands magically knotted the blonde tendrils into a fishtail braid.

After staring at her vision for a while she again had the urge to change the dress and the hairstyle. She knew if she didn't stop it would continue till her nerves wrecked her. Moving to the dressing table she placed everything in order but then staring at it with irritated face her hand on its own accord moved and she placed all the perfumes and accessories according to their length. When she was done she moved up to the end of the room where her mobile was kept on the side table, plugged into a charger.

" I'll be waiting for you:)"

Her heart skipped a beat as she read Evan's message. Her organs vibrated with happiness cheering her but at the same time she was afraid. She never felt this way. Excited and nervous. She was both at the same time.

Have you ever wanted something desperately?, so desperately that you would do anything to get it. Yet you're afraid....afraid that if you got it you'll lose it.. That was exactly how she felt.

Now ready, she moved towards the closet and pulled out a pair strapped high heels that perfectly coordinated with the dress that she had picked. she unconsciously clenched and unclenched her fists, her anxiety peaking new records. Once again moving towards her dressing table she stared at the contents lying according to their length. Her eyes moved towards the clock seeing that she had enough time, her hands came forward and within minutes the dressing table was once again set but this time alphabetically!, this was a trait she could never get rid of. Whenever she felt nervous or anxious she had this unexpected urge to clean up anything.

The last few months had been really tiring. Not because of the emotional roller coaster she was riding with Evan but because while she texted him and waited for his reply she was so nervous that she had cleaned all the cupboards of her room and her brothers and in the end she had turned towards the kitchen closet which was half way set according to length. She had to stop because her mother was having tough time remembering where what was kept.

Sitting in the car she cleaned up her sweaty palms over the dress and groaned afraid the way she was sweating would have stained the dress. As Logan's house neared she could feel the thumping of music along with the thumping of her heart. From a far she saw the figure of Logan's house in the dark and her breath caught in her throat. With every ounce of courage within her she walked out of her car and scrambled towards Logan's house.

The party had already started and people were gathering in groups all over. Looking down at her heels she walked gingerly towards the backyard. Wishing nobody would see her. She could wait no more.

Tiptoeing towards the backyard she groaned as her heels clicked over the pavement. Quickly hiding in the dark she sighed contently and breathed calmly. Trying to control her nerves. She inhaled through nose and exhaled through mouth. Moving her hand through the side of the dress she walked towards the backyard.

Darkness engulfed her as her eyes strained to see a figure there.

She squinted her eyes and moved towards the end where a bench was kept. Sitting on the bench she looked all around only to see that it was empty and she was alone.

Her heartbeat plummeted and her fists clenched the tight dress by the sides. Where was Evan?, quickly pulling over her cell phone she stared at the time. It was past their time to meet. Why wasn't he here yet?
Her lower lip trembled as she thought of the way he might've made fun of her. Maybe all along he knew who she was and just wanted to play her. Tears rushed up to her eyes blurring her vision and a slow sob left her mouth before she could control it.

She knew she was expecting more than he could provide. All along she warned her heart not to expect something wonderful, something out of the world. Yet she did. And now here she was tears slipping out of her eyes.

The music never stopped, but she could hear nothing. Her body was numb yet she was aware of the pain cursing her body. Her head started spinning and she tightly held to the bench. Her hands turning pale due to lack of blood.
The yellow autumn leaves were falling like tears from her eyes. Nobody could stop them and nobody could take them back again. The night was dark only silver moon shining over the black velvet that was sparkling with faded studded diamonds.

The soft light falling on her figure made her look even more breath taking but now her eyes were smudged by the sides, showing that she had been crying. Her hand reached up to her face and she cleaned all the mascara that was falling. Inhaling deeply she pushed back the astray strand of hair behind her hair and with wobbly legs stood up.

Taking a step forward she stopped dead in her track when she saw her mobile laying on the bench, it's notification light blinking. Scrambling towards it now her back towards the entrance of the backyard, she quickly tapped on her mobile.

Her eyes needed time to adjust to the light and to look through the tears that were burning bright. The text was from Amanda. Pulling up a fake smile through the tears she was about to turn around and exit when suddenly the pitch dark backyard was tinged with fairy lights that spread all over the trees and the walls.

Once dark now that backyard was shimmering with small lights like constellations that lightened the dark night. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw the backyard decorated with roses with rose petals strewn across the lawn.

Was this all for her?

Her mind went wild as she took in the sheer beauty of the backyard. It was transformed beautifully.

"I'm sorry I'm late." She heard his voice from behind and she stood still. Her breath caught in her throat. " there was something wrong with the connec-" he stopped in mid sentence and She could feel her back burning. He was staring at her.

"You're blonde." He whispered, as if he didn't expected it. Even though he was aware of it.

"Unfortunately," the words left her mouth even before she could contemplate and think twice.

There was uncomfortable silence covering them. The tension was so thick that it was suffocating her.The only voice that could be heard was the faded thumping of music. Evan took that time to think hard and remember who the voice belonged to.

"I think I've heard your voice..it's kinda-" Evan stopped.
This couldn't be.

His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the figure in front. How could he not know her. All along was it her?, before he could think something else he accusingly stared at the vision even though she couldn't see him.

"Turn around.", this time she could hear the urgency in his voice.

She was still. She couldn't move. Her mind commanded her to be logical but her heart defied any logic. The courage that was left within her faded when he coldly ordered her again to turn around.

She could feel her heart starting to beat faster and blood being pumped up to her legs, it was as if on her own accord without showing him her face she dashed for the exit. She couldn't ruin this all. Even though she knew deep within her heart that whatever she did would never change the way he talked to him. He had made his decision. And she was afraid for what he had decided.

Her legs strained as she forced her heel clad feet to move faster.

All logic and reasoning left her mind and all she heard was the ringing sound in her ear and faded voice of someone calling her name. She couldn't stop. She couldn't let him see her break.

She couldn't face the truth.
