*A week later*
Today is when Paul comes home from the hospital. He loves music, right? He's so talented. He can do everything under the sun. I go to my car, and drive down to the instrument shop. Paul has been talking about getting a violin bass since sophomore year. I walk in, and there's is an old fat man with a beard at the cash register. "Are you looking for anything, miss?" He says. "Where are your basses?" I ask. He gestures me to follow him, and I do. We go into a separate part of the shop, and there is a huge wall of them. "What kind are you looking for, miss?" "A violin 4 string bass," I say. I know exactly what I want for Paul. "Hofners are the best at making violin basses. But the sad thing is, is that they're really expensive." I look at the shimmering bass, with its marble features and fading polished ombré wood. "How much?" I ask. "455 pounds" he says. I have 500 pounds total. "I'll take it." I tell him. He pulls it from the wall, puts it in a case, and brings it to the register. "Are you sure?" "One day mister, look on the TV. You will see this exact bass. When you do, remember to think "she was sure"" and I gave him the money and walked out.
I got back to my apartments and put it in a rectangular box and wrapped it. "To: Paul from: Juliette"
I carried to box to Paul's house, and knocked on the door. "Ello, Juliette. Paul is waiting upstairs for you. What's in the box?" Paul's dad says. "A present in which I can't tell you." I smile and carefully walk up the stairs with the box. I go into Paul's room, and he's sitting on his bed. "Hey Juliette how ar- what is that?" He asks, shocked and confused. "Your coming home present." I say, excited. "You know, Juliette, first, it's pretty fucking big and looks expensive, and second, shouldn't I be give you a present instead?" I shrug my shoulders and place the box on his lap. "Open it," I whisper. He unwraps it to find a box. "Open that" I whisper again. He opens that, to find a guitar looking case. "Now, open that." I whisper softer, and chuckle. I stare at his face, his perfect face, and his eyes are shining like little stars. He opens it, and finds the Hofner violin bass inside. I see a tear travel down his soft cheek, but he's smiling, too. "Juliette, this is the best thing I've ever gotten in my life, besides you of course. How can you afford it?" He gives me a long passionate kiss on the lips, slips his tongue in, and pulls me closer to him. It's been a little while science I've had a kiss like this, and it's always worth waiting for his full lush lips. His kiss is always sweet, like I want to be there forever. "I saved money of course! Don't worry, you deserve it. You deserve everything, Paul. And I mean everything." He places the bass softly on the ground, and I lay down in bed with him. He kisses me on the lips, then on my cheek, then my neck. He is always so gentle with everything. I start to unbutton his shirt, and he looks up. "I love you" "I love you too" I say.
I wake up next to him, naked, obviously. We're holding hands. His hand is so soft and large. Last night was amazing, and waking up to him is like a dream. Just looking at his face I could tell that I will be with him forever. Through any bad situation. I start to tickle him so he wakes up. "Stop Juliette, I'm not supposed to be ticklish!" He grumbles. He sits up, and stretches out his arms to yawn. He has major bed head, but it looks so sexy. "Damn cartney you are fine," he smiles at me. "What?" Did I just fucking say that out loud? What the hell!! "Well, you look attractive with your hair messed up and everything. And you're not wearing any clothes, which is a plus," I say. "Well miss Juliette, you're not either. So I guess we're even." He gives me a smirk, and winks at me. "We should get some breakfast" he says, then kissing me on the cheek. "I'll make you some" he adds. We get off the bed, careful not to step on the bass. We get dressed, head downstairs, and Paul makes breakfast for us.
When were done with that, we go over to my house with his bass, and he starts to play. It's quite beautiful, how he can pick up an instrument so fast. Sure he's been playing the bass for who knows how long, but it's like he's had this forever. It's like his fingers are meant to play it, and in response the bass is singing. Then, Paul sings,
"I give her all my love
That's all I do
And if you saw my love
You'd love her too
I love her
She gives me everything
And tenderly
The kiss my lover brings
She brings to me
And I love her
A love like ours
Could never die
As long as I have you near me"
That's the song. The song he wrote. For me. I want to cry, of happiness, but I don't. I smile, so big. I've been so caught up in everything lately, and he just makes me happy. That's what love is, right? What me and Paul have is love. What WE have is love.
