(This is during the first & second chapter in Dylan's pov.)
>Dylan's pov<
Regrets.
A single word that holds so much meaning.
That in one moment in your life everything can go wrong. One simple mistake and everything changes.
The simple mistake I made caused me to lose the most important thing I had. I didn't lose money, a game, or even a friend. I lost her.
I bet your thinking, 'Dude, you just lost a simple girl. There is plenty of fish in the sea'.
Well to break it to you, you're wrong. She isn't just a simple girl. I know people don't believe in soul mates, but I just know she was made for me.
It was our eighth grade year when I started having doubts...
>Four years ago<
"-Dylan! Are you listening?"
I turn my head to Lacey, giving her a apologetic smile.
"Sorry Lace, I have just been distracted thinking about next year. Freshman. Jeez. We're staring to get old."
She started giggling at me, "We're not old. We're only thirteen."
"Actually, you're thirteen. I'm thirteen in a half."
She rolls her eyes at me, "You're only a couple of months older than me."
She looks back towards the sky, looking at the night sky. The stars surrounding us, giving us light in the darkness.
"It still counts."
She rolls over on her side then stares at me with a smile. She rubs her eyes and yawns.
"I should get going, it's getting pretty late. Goodnight Dylan, see you tomorrow."
She reaches over and hugs me. I get a whiff of her strawberry shampoo, as she pulls away. Lacey gets up and walks toward the gate that leads to the front yard.
"Don't forget to call me when you get home!"
"I won't forget! Promise!"
She opened the gate and disappeared behind it. I look up towards the sky, then smile at the stars.
After a few minutes of gazing at the stars, I got up and walked into my house. Walking up my stairs, a few doors down on the right I enter my room. The light was already on, how strange...
I open my door to reveal my cousin laying on my bed, he looked at me with a mad expression.
"Whoa. What's wrong with you Steven?"
He pats the spot beside him, "Since I didn't want to be home I decided to come and talk to you."
I sit on the bed next to him, "What's going on?"
"Okay little cousin, let me give you a word of advice. When you're in high school everything is going to change. Remember Amanda? My best friend before high school?"
He waited for me to respond back to him, "Yes, I remember her."
"Well, during our freshman year we were still close, but during sophomore year she started drifting off from me. Now it's my junior year and she doesn't even talk to me anymore. At all. Not even one glance to know if I still exist."
