[Todd's P.O.V]

6 Years Ago; June 10th, 2010.

As winter went, soon came spring and summer. Things had changed. My dad couldn't come right away like the past summers, he was stuck at home doing "business work" and I am pretty sure he was doing more than that too. My father started to become known for secret getaways that were slowly tearing this family apart.

I was woken up by my parents on a hot Saturday. We were going to leave in two days, two long hot days until I finally got to see Quinn!  I was woken up by sound of something breaking downstairs. Mom and Dad were fighting again. Recently they had been fighting a lot, my Dad would go somewhere after work and not come home until midnight. My Mom and me would usually eat dinner in front of the TV seeing as we didn't really have anything to say, my Dad was the one who always cracked a joke and made the whole family fall into a fit of laughter.

I crawled under my bed and held a pillow to my head in order to block out all the sounds of their yelling. I hated the sounds of my parents screaming at each other. It felt like hell here all alone.

I can't remember how long I stayed under that bed with a pillow to my ears, but I remember hearing footsteps coming up the stairs and making their way down the hall close to my bedroom. By the pattern and the weight put into each step, I could tell that it was my mother. I let the pillow fall beside me as my Mom opened the door.

"Todd, you can come out, mommy and daddy are just angry with each other. There is no reason to be afraid love, come on." Mommy and daddy. I laugh inside.

I crawl out from under the bed and jump up into to my mothers arms, where she embraces me warmly. I love my mom, she knew how to keep me calm even in times like this when she was distressed.

The hug lasted for at least 3 minutes, Mom rubbed my back and told me not to care, Dad was just being stupid.

The two days went by quickly. Nothing happened that day, we packed and travelled to Nantucket, Quinn was only coming in three days from now. I told myself that I could wait three days, but inside I was bouncing with joy, only 72 hours (if I put it that way, it seems better) until Quinn and her family get here!

"Quinn's here!" I called as I raced down the stairs from my bedroom at the beach house. I watched as her family's Honda pulled into their driveway. The same routine I'd been watching happen the past few years.

I saw her step out of the backseat, holding a pillow tight to her stomach. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a beautiful braid. Everything about her is just.. Just wow.

Quinn looked up and immediately she smiled. The smile she wore on her face was the smile she  always had on her face when we saw each other. She threw her pillow into the car and ran over to me, I did the same, knowing we would meet halfway. We did. It was one of those hugs you could stay in forever and never get uncomfortable. We pulled away and we both laughed when Quinn's Mom and Dad kissed.

"Ewww. Mom, Dad take that somewhere else." Quinn said in sarcastic disgust. I made the same face as her and we both went 'eww' together then laughed.

Summer went well as always. Summer was like a breather. School years were bad and summers were amazing. Dad came up in July, a month of extra work? Oh well, not like there's anything I can do about it. The last 2 months of summer were well spent with everyone together having fun, laughing and making memories. I had an amazing story to tell when we went back to school for 7th grade and the teachers asked us how our summers had been.

It had been a normal day, Quinn was relaxing on the beach, I was shooting some hoops into a basketball net on the beach when all of a sudden I heard a scream from Quinn. Seagulls were attacking her! It was so hilarious I started dying but hey! It was her fault for leaving open food next to her.

"HELP!" She kept screaming. They were like going after her. Never seen anything like it in my life, usually you run after seagulls and they fly away but these were some brave birds. After a few minutes of watching Quinn get chased around I got up and took my basketball and started running after Quinn and the birds trying to throw the basketball at them. I scared a few but after the third throw I hit some woman who was lying on the beach and Quinn fell to the ground in laughter. Who knew that was all she had to do to scare the birds away?

I start laughing thinking of the memory as in turn my family drives away in our Jeep. I stick my head out the window and wave goodbye to Quinn and her family.

"Adios and till next summer my friends!" I shout as my car turns around a corner and they disappear from sight.
