[Quinn's P.O.V]
August 20th, 2012
I stared down at my phone, I was waiting for a text or a little buzz that would tell me if anyone texted me. Someone like Todd.
I put down my phone and went to go look out the window and sure enough Todd was outside walking towards the beach. He's been going to the beach almost everyday now. At exactly 12:40, he will leave the house and will come back late. It's now on my schedule to check on him at that time. That's the only time I am able to see him.
My phone buzzes on my table and I jump. I run to get it and read the text. Oh great, it was from Nolan... Hey babe, miss me? I want to say not really, but instead I just type back of course. It takes a few seconds, but he responds, Can I pick u up anything from the store? I have lost all interest in this conversation, so I just put my phone down.
I stare out the window and into the distance again for a minute before realizing how bored I am. I miss my fun times running around with Todd at the beach or having breath holding contests in his pool.
I decide to do something I hadn't done all year to pass some time, check my Facebook account. I logged into my account after a minute of trying to remember the password and all my notifications flood into my screen. I click on the notification button to get rid of all of them and then decide to do some stalking. I search up Todd's Facebook and see that he's been using it recently... That's a bit weird who still uses Facebook?
Oh well, I won't question him everyone's a bit weird after all. I click onto his profile and see his info. In a relationship... Boston MA... WAIT WHAT? In a relationship? He didn't even tell me and I thought that we told each other everything... But, that's besides the point! Who is he even in a relationship with?
Think Quinn, think. OH MY GOD. THAT'S WHERE HE GOES EVERYDAY. It makes so much more sense now. I knew he had been disappearing but I didn't even realize what the cause of it could be... Obviously for a girl. Wow.
I close my laptop in shock and go to the window because I hear someone talking outside. I pull open my blinds and I see Todd with some girl. Probably the girl he's in a relationship with. I close my blinds again so I can eavesdrop on their conversation.
"I'm so excited to meet your mom and the Jacobs!" The mystery girl exclaims, grabbing Todd's arm and batting her lashes at him.
"They'll love you." He says smiling at her with the smile he used to always give me.
"You really think?"
"Of course, everyone here is very nice."
"So tell me who I'm about to meet!"
"Well there's my Mom, Quinn, Mr Jacobs and Mrs Jacobs, Addison, and Nolan." I hear Todd mutter an "Ew" as he says Nolan's name.
"Quinn's your ex-best friend right?" The girl asks.
"Uh, yeah." Todd shifts uncomfortably as he answers her. But, ex-bestfriend? Ouch, that hurt I think to myself as I step back from the window.
From downstairs, my mom calls me for dinner, just in time. Before heading down for dinner, I go into my sisters room. Addison is sleeping in her crib and looks adorable unlike me at this moment. I'm a mess, on the verge of tears, how am I going to survive meeting that girl?
I walk out of Addison's room, making sure to close the door behind me so she doesn't wake up and then I head downstairs for dinner.
I pass by my mom in the kitchen and as I am about to head outside on the deck, my mom catches me and makes me bring out a salad bowl to the table. Great, I hate helping.
"Why did you make so much salad, jeez Mom I know we have to eat healthy but this is a bit much." I laugh, trying to put myself in a better mood."
"We're eating with the Reynolds and they have a guest tonight." She replies, laughing along with me.
"What?" Are you serious now I have to survive a whole dinner with that girl. I sigh and walk outside with a heavy weight on my shoulders.
To my surprise, everyone is already seated around the table, including the mystery girl who is seated next to Todd.
I have to admit, this girl isn't bad looking at all. She has really nice wavy hair that rolls perfectly down her back. God, she is an actual God. There's a plus for me.
I take my seat next to Nolan and he wraps his arm around me. He's nice and warm but somehow I still feel cold.
"Dig in everyone, please don't wait for us." My mom said while rushing into the house to get napkins.
I watched the girl grab for the salad first, not the fries or the hamburger. Oh great, she's also a health nut. I felt rage building up in me and surprisingly the first thing I did was talk.
"Soo, who are you?" I made eye contact with the girl.
"I'm Sierra." She said and gave a wide smile back.
"Nice to meet you Sierra, soo are you and Todd a thing now?" I tried to keep cool and smiled back. I looked over at Todd and he was making wide eyes at me as if he was trying to tell me to quit it.
"Umm, yeah. I think we are." Sierra looked directly at Todd and Todd looked back, they both smiled at each other."
"Why aren't you eating your hamburger? It's bad for you, but it tastes good."
"I'm actually a vegetarian." Then from around the table there were a bunch of comments, most of them were good for you's. Until that moment, I realized that me and Sierra were the only ones talking.
"Ohh good for you." I said in a high pitch voice, mimicking the people around me.
"Shut up Quinn." Todd said under his breath but I could tell most people caught onto it.
"You know, honestly Todd, I think you could have done way better." I had no idea where that came from, but I liked this side of me.
"Stop it Quinn!" Todd screamed from the top of his lungs and got up from his chair and took Sierra's hand and they walked off together. Sierra looked back now and then but Todd was too pissed off to even think of looking back at me.
"Quinn, go upstairs." My mom said in her usual low pissed off voice.
"I was just trying to share my op-"
"Now!" Jesus, everyone is yelling at me today. I got up from my chair and went inside. Nolan followed.
"Nolan, it's okay. You don't need to follow." I said, putting my hand on his chest to stop him.
"What the hell was that?" Nolan hissed at me.
"Look, I was just mad in the moment." I said, my cheeks started getting red.
"It looked like you were jealous of Sierra."
"No Nolan, I am not. I was just pissed off that Sierra is stealing my best friend."
"Quinn, what about me? Huh? All you ever do is talk about Todd whenever we hang out. It's never about us anymore. If you can't fix your problem then we're through."
"What do you mean we're through?" I asked, confused.
"I've put up with this for long enough."
"Where do you think you're going to go, huh?" I glared at him to try to stop the tears from falling down my face.
"Ms Reynolds still likes me so I guess I'll stay with them for the last few days." He said as he stepped back and started to walk out of the house.
I don't say anything instead I run up the stairs to my room where I bury myself in the duvet and start to cry, wishing that Todd was here to comfort me, but he wasn't.
