Collision.
"DAMIEN!"
*Silence*
"Damien. Marie. Chazel. Get up right now!" Peachy yells storming into my room.
*Sleepy grumbling and mumbling*
"Wake up this instant you're going to be late and I'm not having it. Not on your first day back in school." Peachy says drawing the curtains open, then pulling the grey duvet off my curled up body.
"Geez Peachy! It's freezing!"
"Good. You're up. You're bus will be here in 20 minutes and you're barely up."
"Well, I'm up now." I grumble. Why would someone who's so lovely (most of the time) do something so vile? Waking a sleeping teenager up from a world she controls to go to a compound she doesn't control. Why so cruel? Let sleeping teenagers lie.
"If you're late I'm not giving you a ride and you're still going to school." She says walking out of my room.
Finally getting up, I jump into the bathroom and after 8 minutes I have showered, brushed my teeth and my mane is tame enough to be seen by the outside world.
I walk back into my room and pick out my favourite outfit. It's simple and basically my uniform for school. I've mastered the art of plain clothes, so I pull on a pair of black skinnies, a black vest, and a red, checked flannel shirt. I mostly wear black, but sometimes when I feel adventurous I switch it up, I wear different colours together, like blue and white. I put on some lip balm, which I then stuff into my bag, along with my phone and house keys, as I grab it. Picking up my black Ngomas, I make my way to the front door of our apartment.
As I wear my shoes Peachy comes and hands me a Ziploc bag with cookies in it, a water bottle, and another Ziploc bag of cookies with a note stapled to it. "Make sure you get them to her." Peachy says.
By her she means the school dean, Mrs. Hejula. "You forgot again?" I ask smirking knowingly at her, as I pack everything away into my rucksack.
Ever since I moved in with Diane, she's always forgotten to pay my school fees on time. It's not that the money isn't there, she just simply forgets. So she started sending me with notes and cookies on the first day of every school semester, and it happens every single semester, regardless of the school.
"You'd think I'd be used to it now." She says smiling sheepishly.
Looking at the time I realize I have about 3 minutes to get to the gate from the fifth floor of our building, before the bus leaves me. "I need to leave." I say kissing Peachy on the cheek and heading out of the door.
"You have your phone and keys?"
"Yeah." I say as I start running down the stairs.
"Bye." Peachy shouts.
"Bye." I shout back.

As soon as I get off my bus, someone rams into me enveloping me in a tight hug! "I've missed you!" The person says loudly into my ear as we stumble from the loss of balance and almost fall.
I chuckle. "I've missed you too, Amber."
"Then why aren't you hugging me back, idiot." She asks very loudly.
"I don't know, maybe because you hugged my arms down?" I say making my red headed best friend, Amber Taler, let go.
"Oh, Right." She says as we 'rehug.'
"So how was it?" I ask.
"France was brilliant. We need to go together, maybe during our world tour?"
"Definitely! I can't wait for the day we finish."
"You and I both, D. So have you heard yet? We've got new students. Our age that is." Amber says as we start walking towards our school building.
We get new students almost every month, I mean we go to The Novas International Academy. We're the most advanced school in Kenya, maybe even the world. We've got students from almost everywhere in the world, but what makes us really special is that we practice a new age style of education, called multistudy. Every country out there has their own school system, and so our school has every school system out there. This works great for the kids that go here, because a lot of them have parents that travel a lot. So instead of coming to Kenya and looking for a school system close enough to the one at home you can just come and get evaluated, then continue with your studies where you left off; or even pick another system, with the option of doing it in your language. For example, if you're German but want to do 844, instead of doing you're subjects in English, you get to do them in German, and since it's a Kenyan system, you have to do English and Swahili as your extra credit languages.
Now, you're probably wondering how classes are set up, well when it comes to class grouping, you're grouped according to age and system. Like Amber and I are in French K-12, the American system of education, that's how we met. I joined it when it was still a fairly new system but more and more people have gotten used to the idea, although, it's mostly expatriates and new parents with little children. So we get more little kids than high school kids, which isn't really exciting. So when we get kids our age it's always interesting.
"This is the first I'm hearing of it." I say as we walk into our school building.
"Well if you actually read the messages in our schoolroom Whatsapp group, you might know."Amber scolds.
"Maybe if you didn't all text so much, I would. Besides, I've got you to keep me updated." I say grinning as she slaps my shoulder.
"I feel used." She says feigning hurt as I just chuckle.
As we walk to my locker Amber fills me in on the known details about the new students.
"So British twins, a girl and a boy, with piercing blue eyes, and platinum blond hair. Got it. Do we have any extracurricular classes with them?" I ask.
"Nobody knows yet, so I guess we'll find out." She says winking at me as I roll my eyes.
Looking at my phone screen and seeing the time I pick up my walking pace. "We should probably head to Ma-" I get cut off as I bump into something hard and stumble backward, losing all my balance and falling onto my butt.
"Ow." I say as I hear Amber laughing behind me. Loudly might I add?
"Are you alright?" A deep accented voice asks as a hand appears in front of me to help me up. I grab the hand and find myself standing in a flash, looking into the bluest eyes.
I've seen plenty of blue eyes in my life, I lived in France as a kid and I go to a school with many colourful eyed kids. But I've never seen eyes so...blue.
"Xavier!" A female voice calls.
"Damien." Amber says from behind me at the same time.
"We've got to go." The voices say in unison, again.
"I've got to go." He and I say at the same time.
He smiles and I turn to Amber who has my bag in her hand, since she picked it for me when after my fall, I take it from her and we run past the blue eyed boy to our Math class.
"I think we just met the twins." Amber whisper shouts giddily as soon as we collapse into our seats just in time for the tardy bell to go off.
