Saturday Night 9:55 pm
Eight year old Stiles Stilinski threw the small rock across the roof.
"Smack."
The pebble had just hit the windows and the little red headed girl had already come out in her little minion pajamas.
"Sup loser," Lydia yelled out. "Is it time?"
Stiles nodded his head and proceeded to grab the Uno cards.
See that's the thing. Lydia Martin and Stiles Stilinski's houses were weird. They were built way too close, so Whenever Stiles and Lydia wanted to, they could climb out of their windows and they'd be almost within touching distance. This led the two little kids to constantly come out of their rooms at night to play Uno.
"Your turn," Stiles said placing his blue 8 card on the deck.
"Uno!" Lydia called out.
Stiles face shriveled up as the little boy knew he was going to lose.
"Change color!!" Stiles screamed ecstatic that he had picked that card up. "Green!"
Tears began to well up in little Lydia Martin's eyes. Stiles didn't know what to do. He'd never seen her cry- she was the strongest person he knew. "No Lyds, don't cry. I'm sorry. Here I take it back."
He didn't think she would cry over something as little as a card game. "Lydia, it's just Uno- you'll win next time- I promise!"
Lydia started to wipe away her tears and begun to speak slowly. "No, I'm sorry! It wasn't that Sti."
"Then what happened?"
Lydia held back for a moment almost not wanting to speak. As if speaking would destroy everything that the two held in their friendship.
"Mom and dad are getting divorced. I heard this morning. I didn't know what that meant, but mommy explained it to me Sti. I don't have a happy family anymore," she said choking back her tears.
The little boy went in to hug Lydia as if it was reflex. "I'm here for you Lydia. Me and my dad. We're your family Lydia. I'm your family."
The two sat on the roof playing cards for hours. Not a single word was spoken, but they knew they didn't have to speak for their friendship was like no other. It was golden.
A/N: Ahh so this is the first mini chapter/prologue. I hope you guys enjoyed it. I think this fan fiction will have about 20 chapters and a possible epilogue, since I'm really excited about it. Feel free to leave any of your ideas that you want me to write into the story in the comments below. Please vote and comment. Thanks -I <3
