Walking into the house, the air is different.
In retrospect, I probably shouldn't of flashed my eyes at Addie.
She just makes me so angry sometimes.
I can feel her fear in the air, but she's also pretty mad too.
She's sitting in the living room on the couch brooding. She's put her backpack on the table, and that's refreshing.
Good to know she still remembers some parts of the house rules.
I take my jacket off and put it in the front closet.
Time to deal with this.
I walk over at Addie and she's got her legs crossed and her arms crossed.
I raise one eyebrow and take in her appearance.
Her blonde hair has been dyed black and green. A distasteful combination. She's wearing a ripped up black shirt, and purple ripped jeans, down into ratty combat boots. I don't know who gave her these clothes but it wasn't me. She glares up at me and that's when I notice it.
She's gone and gotten her eyebrow pierced.
Her eyebrow? Why in the hell would you get your eyebrow pierced. Her piercing is the same color as the green in her hair.
She knows I hate the color green.
If you google the perfect specimen of teenage rebellion, it would be Addie right now.
Should I check her body for tattoos?
Who the hell is she hanging out with?
How could I not have noticed things were getting this bad?
"What is it?!" She yells at me. "Why are you just staring? Take a picture, it will last longer."
I'm stunned. I raise my eyebrows and look at her with a "wow I can't believe you just did that face."
She's never spoken like that to me before. Once again my mind re-visits the tower idea.
"Excuse me?" I say, giving her a chance to redeem herself. I step closer to her and puff my chest and cross my arms. Maybe she will catch on to my body language.
Her eyes get wide and she sinks back into the couch.
"Y-you heard me.." She says.
"No. I don't think you heard me. Addie, I got a call from the university today. They said that you have not attended more then 4 classes in the past two months. You were such a good student last semester that they wanted to see if it was some kind of medical emergency. I told them I had no idea about this, and that I would Handle it."
She shudders at my words and casts her gaze downward. Good.
"Do you know how much one class costs at your school? It's around 200 dollars a class Addison. This is ridiculous! Have you taken a look in the mirror recently? This isn't you Addison. You used to be a great student. Someone worth looking up to. Now your someone who plays bongos in a subway and who people like me spit at!"
Okay, maybe that was too harsh.
"This skipping class is ridiculous. Who have you been hanging out with? I know you don't come home until late. I should've caught onto this sooner. I should've known you would go haywire if I didn't keep you under check. I thought you were strong enough to be a respectable person on your own, but I was horribly wrong."
She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "S-stop it Felix." She begs me.
Awh, it's a sad sight. Maybe I would stop if I was known for showing mercy.
"Addison, I can't believe that you've turned into this. I give you the freedom you begged me for and this is what I get. My very own teenage Elvira. I think I'm going to have the university change all of your classes to online. I'll work from home so I can keep tabs on you. You won't be allowed out of this house until you can get your grades up."
"YOU CANT DO THAT!" She screams at me.
"Oh but I can, and I will."
"You can't keep me here like some kind of prisoner!" She says as tears stream down her face.
"Oh no? Where else will you go? Who's going to take care of you? Your new friends? All they see in you is a big pair of tits Addison. You changing yourself for these people isn't healthy. You really thought you would get away with this didn't you?"
"I HATE YOU!" She screams and she lunges at me.
I grab her by her neck and slam her into the wall behind us.
"I'm glad you hate me. No really, I'm glad. That makes punishing you so much easier for me. You will stay in this house until you get your grades up," I let my eyes turn red. "You will wash all this shit out of your hair, get rid of that," I say as I flick her new piercing and she shrieks. "And you will dress like a normal human being. Now go! Get cleaned up and come present yourself to me."
I drop her to the ground and she gasps for breath. She looks up at me terrified.
"NOW!" I bellow. She start sobbing and she scrambles upstairs.
I go to the doors and place some simple sealant charms on them. This will keep her in the house.
I sit down in my chair and sigh. I can still hear her crying upstairs.
Damnit Felix, you need to get more control.
