I rubbed my groggy eyes and tried to push myself to get up out of the bed. Come on Alaina, you can do this, one foot before the other. I rolled over on my side and faced the wall, my laziness winning over my urging.
"Ah come on. Get up already you bum," my sister chirped in her usual amusing voice.
"Go away Melissa!" I screeched, throwing a pillow in the direction I heard her voice.
I could literally feel her sticking out her tongue at my futile attempt of throwing the pillow at her.
"Get up. You've got school Lainie," she said seriously.
"I hate school," I complained. "Can't I stay home with you?"
"Alaina Mickayla Harrison!" she bellowed.
"Okay, Okay. I'm up," I grumbled whilst lifting myself from the comfort of my bed.
She smiled wickedly at me and left my room in a blink, probably to get breakfast ready.
*****
Half an hour later, I am making my way down the hallway to the kitchen for breakfast.
"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh!" I heard someone scream loudly.
"Meeeliiiissaaaaa!" I screamed, sprinting my way down the hallway.
I stopped in my tracks at what I saw. This thing would've passed off as a human if not for its tentacles that emerged from its back and pierced through my sister's body that was hanging upside down. For the first time, I saw fear, terror and confusion plastered over Melissa's face. I looked painfully at the beast that so callously took my sister's life and anger surged through me as it smiled lazily at me. I rushed forward with my hands in the air, screaming and trying to grab the monster in front of me, but, to no avail as it kept dodging my attacks.
In one swift movement, it was behind me and grabbed me with one of its tentacles, lifting me off the floor and turning me to face her-it, whatever this thing was. I squirmed and wriggled effortlessly against the tentacle that was wrapped so tightly against me. It smirked, bringing another of its tentacle to rub against my face. I turned my face, holding my head as far back away from the tentacle that slowly trailed its way towards my face.
As the tentacle twirled its way slowly towards me, I began saying the Our Father Prayer. Pain sliced through my right arm as the thing that held me forced its tentacle into my skin. I screamed as the monster pushed two more of it tentacles through my elbows on both arms. Tears streamed down my face and I bit on my lip trying to fight the pain, willing myself not to submit, not to succumb. The beast unwrapped its tentacle from around me, holding me up with the three that pierced through my arms. I slowly lifted my head, trying to will myself to show strength on the outside, to look it in the face and show it that I won't give up. Before I could fully lift my head, it jabbed its tentacle into my belly. I coughed blood all over my white shirt. Oh how I wished I could curl up and rub my tummy. The beast jerked one of its tentacle out of my right arm and dragged it back as far as possible and with inhumane speed, jabbed it through my shoulders. I screamed out in agony. The pain was so agonizing, I could not bare it any longer. Sweat poured down my face like rain in a storm, my arms quivered from the pain and my whole body went limp. I tried to swallow the lump in my throat as tears cascaded down my face, blinding me. Just when I felt like succumbing to the vulnerability, a voice pierced through my mind, jerking me out of my mind state.
"Zaria! Zaria! Wake up!" the person panicked as they shook my body.
