I smirked at Max, slipping on a {f/c} sweater.

"Oh God, what do you have in mind?" He said as if he knew.

"I'm gonna name it Maxis." I said.

"Do not. I swear. Just do not." He said, waving a finger at me.

"You can't stop me." I grinned. "Just kidding, I could probably think of something better."

"Don't give it some stupid name like Paws or Smudge either." Max said. "And definitely do not use Maxis."

"I just told you, I'm not gonna, so chill out." I laughed.

Me and Max stood for a few moments, watching the cat roam around the house aimlessly. It would pounce on shoes, tackling the laces and biting them. It flipped over numerous times as it played.

"Salem!" I said so loudly, that the kitten had jumped up from where it was, mid-play. "Sorry kitty, but I wanna name it Salem."

I turned to Max. "That's exotic." He frowned, then laughed. "But I feel like that's more of a name for a black cat."

I scowled. "But it works for grey cats too." He said nervously.

"Maybe I shouldn't name him Salem." I looked down at my hands, almost forgetting I had painted my nails {f/c}.

"No, no, no, Salem is a great name. It does fit a grey cat or black cat. Now, if only the eyes were red." Max joked.

I chuckled. "Okay, I guess I'll stick with Salem."

"It doesn't even matter, 'cause if the name doesn't fit you could just rename it." Max shrugged.

I nodded. "Then I guess Salem will do."

I fell onto to my couch, finding that Salem had followed, meowing loudly. I then sat up quickly.

"Holy crap! We forgot to buy the poor thing a food and water bowl!" I yelped, causing Salem to dart off.

"We also forgot to buy it food." Max added.

I got up and went into my room, finding my wallet and throwing it at Max. "Begone MadMax, go buy the smol child some food." I said trying to sound heroic.

He grumbled an inaudible word as he left the house. I laughed at myself stupidly and sat on the couch, calling the small thing over. It crept out from where it had been hiding, in my room, underneath my bed and came over to me. I picked it up and began to snuggle it. Salem purred loudly. I looked at him, then held him across from my face. He mewled and I laughed.

"Honestly, this is such a cheesy thing to say, even to a cat, but," I glanced at the door, "that guy that helped me adopt you, yeah, he's a good guy."I kissed the cat on the forehead. (cause anyone who has a cat does this, I know)

Salem meowed again, a high pitched, adorable meow. "I really like him." I set down the cat and watched the door, internally dying.

I shook my head, seeing that Salem had not moved from where I had put him down, except the fact that he was sitting. "You're hungry." I frowned. "Just wait a little, okay buddy, Max will be back with your food, in like twenty years."

Salem jumped onto the couch and sat next to me, then curled up in a ball, his eyes wide open, as if he knew he was to wait. I sighed, curling up just like the cat and resting my head on the arm of the couch, trying to get a little more sleep than usual. Everybody likes to sleep, especially just a little bit more than usual.
