"Excellent Snowfire!! Now do a- Amazing!" The leader of the Battle training academy, Flaze exclaimed. Snowfire jumped over pits and crevices as practice for war. She maneuvered beautifully from one move to another. The other wolves in the academy stared in awe as the grey wolf soared under the stars.
"Wow Snowfire! You're amazing! You'll make an amazing warrior." One black wolf, Namara exclaimed, hopping up and down. Snowfire nodded in response and walked to the icy lake, next to the academy.
Why am I the cursed one? Snowfire thought, peering into the glossy lake. In the moonlight, to looked like a liquid crystal.
"Snowfire, you okay?" Namara whispered, patting her back with her front paw.
"Just thinking about Alyla." She lied.
"What about her?"
"Starting a war. It's all wrong. Why start a war when she was spoken in truth?" Snowfire growled silently. Namara drew her attention to the moonlit water, along with Snowfire's.
Training finished early that day due to an upcoming storm. Usually, storms were no problem to the Stafaozen wolves, but large thunderstorms, were exceedingly dangerous to where the clan was located. Plains with trees scattered were easy ways to zap a wolf to ashes.Skar was asleep when Streak and Snowfire arrived back into their den.
"Who called early release?" Streak asked Snowfire.
"Most likely Stamla Stafaozen."
"Right. So how was your training today?" Streak asked, sitting next to Skar."It was okay. Just the thought of my curse and the war distracted me." Snowfire responded. Skar awoke in the middle of their conversation.
"Hey Skar." Streak beamed, waving a paw. Skar smiled in response and said only a few things throughout the whole talk. Otherwise, he was quiet.
"But anyway, why is a little thunderstorm bad? I mean look outside the den! It's not even raining, the thunder is just messing with us."
"You wait Streak. That's how a storm moves. Or it is passing us and we are only getting the edge of the whole thing and the Alpha sounded a false alarm." Snowfire explained. The sky was darkening by the minute from the thick clouds. Dawn was approaching but it seemed Twilight took over morning.
"Streak, what is this?" Skar said through the silence. Snowfire and Streak looked back at the far cave wall and saw something shining from the reflection of the sun.
"Metal? Why would metal be stuck in a cave wall like that?" She said to herself, trotting over there. It shined brightly through the dark. Which was unusual to Streak.
"Streak. Be careful." Skar whispered. Snowfire started to growl.
"Why are you growling at me?" Streak asked, scared. Snowfire walked past her and stared closely at the shining object.
"Get away." She snarled. Streak and Skar slowly backed away, nervous of what she'll do. The object vibrated and dashed out of the wall, flying towards Snowfire at a light speed pace. Faster than a blink, she caught it in her jaws. Streak and Snowfire were astonished. The shining thing was an orb.
"What is that?" Skar asked, scared to get close to her. Streak took a few steps closer to Snowfire, who set down the glowing orb. Streak sniffed the medium sized thing. It was the size of her front right paw, which was a little bit bigger than the other front paw. Skar however, stayed in the back, afraid of a flashbang or it exploding.
"Skar, it's safe." Snowfire smiled.
"A-are you sure?"
"Positive." Skar walked off to the side, going towards it but not like the other wolves. The moment he got in a 5 foot radius, it started to flash rapidly.
