The tears streamed down Barbara's face. She couldn't control them. She thought, that maybe, just maybe Ivy would have a heart. Barbara couldn't have been more wrong.
"Barbara, stop crying."
Barbara jerked her head up in fear. The voice was completely unfimilar. The woman was tall and blonde. She had a small smile on her face.
"W-who are you?" Barbara whispered.
"My name is Dinah, I am your fairy God mother."
"My what?"
"Fairy. God. Mother. I grant wishes that consum the whole heart. And trust me, you REALLY want to go to the ball."
"I can't." Barbara looked at her dress, ripped to the point of no return.
Dinah rolled her eyes. "It was a beatiful dress, your mother loves it, but-"
"MY MOTHER?!" Barbara felt all the air leave her lungs. This strange "fairy" woman knew her mother
"Yes, Barbara. Your mother. She sent me."
Barbara stared awestruck at the woman.
"Now as I was saying before I was interrupted, I need to make you a new dress. You'll also need a carriage."
"How will you do that?" Dinah laughed at Barbara's question.
"Magic of course. Now let's see." Dinah got very close to Barbara and looked right into her eyes. Barbara chose not to say anything, but she was uncomfortable.
Dinah backed up. "I'm such an idiot! Of course your word is bat!"
"Huh?"
"It's a word that will activate my magic, your word is bat." Dinah rolled up her sleeves. "I'll show you what I mean. Bibbty! Bobity! Bat!"
The air seemed to swirl around and glow sliver; than with a noise like a gunshot a beatiful carriage, horses to pull it, and a driver stood in front of Barbara.
"Oh. My. God." Barbara pinched herself. There was no way this wasn't a dream.
"It is real, Barbara." Dinah said. "Now the fun part. Brace yourself. Bibbty! Bobity! Bat!" The glowing sparkles covered Barbara. In a instant she was wearing an emerald green dress, a matching mask, and beatiful pair of glass slippers.
"Everything fits perfectly!" Barbara exclaimed.
"Well of course it does. It was made just for you. The cloths will only ever fit you."
Barbara got into her carriage, practically bursting with excitment.
"Barbara, there's one last thing. My magic can not cross into a new day. When the clock strikes midnight, almost everything will disapear."
"Okay. Thank you Dinah."
"Your welcome, but there is no time for such formality. Get going!"
The coach started towards the castle. With every second Barbara was nearing the ball.
