"Ugh dammit!" I shout, as I failed at the water whip for the tenth time.

"You don't wanna let gran gran hear you talking like that!" Sokka yelled, losing his grip on the fish he had just caught, causing it to flop right into his face.

"Her name is Kanna. Not Gran Gran." I say, laughing hysterically at the mark the fish made on Sokka's cheek.  Sokka's glared at me, eyes like daggers. I raised my hand to lift up a sphere of water containing another fish.  I opened my palm to freeze it and flung the fish at Sokka.

"You're welcome"  I smirked, turning on my heels to head back to the Southern Water Tribe.

I pulled the damp curtain of the small icy hut back to reveal Katara practicing healing techniques.

"Ah, Kyann. Good you're here. You should start acting like Katara and practice your healing skills." Kanna said, gesturing for me to sit down.

"I'm not into that sort of stuff" I scoff, crossing my arms.

"It doesn't matter what stuff you're into. You listen to Gran Gran." Kanna responded.

"I'm a fighter. Not a healer. And you're not my gran gran." I say harshly.

Kanna's jaw tightened.

"Sit down young lady this instant! Water bending woman are healers, not fighters. Now get your head out of the clouds and help your sister... Now Kyann!" Gran Gran ordered.

My blood boiled as my eyes pierced into Kanna's soul.

"My name is Kya, Katara is not my sister and I am not a healer!" I almost scream, stomping my foot onto the arctic ice. The water in the embellished vases that were sitting in the corners of the hut exploded into the air soaking the two healing benders.

I stormed out of the igloo. "Stupid healers" I said to myself, kicking a small ice shard as I walked.

I kept walking, keeping my head down, not knowing where I was going.

Why did I have to be the youngest? I was only 14, while Katara was 15 and Sokka, 16. They're not my real family though.

After the fire nation attacked when I was 7, They took my parents captive.  They were both benders, too.  My mother was a strong and independent woman, and certainly wasn't a healer.  As Kanna , or Gran Gran was quite close with my family, she, along with Sokka and Katara, looked after me.  I've been living with them for 7 years now.  I refuse to accept that my parents are really gone.  I believe the fire nation still has them captive, and I am going to find them.

I felt my big toe stub against something hard.

"Ah!" I shouted as I landed face first, slamming into the ice.

I looked up. I was in the middle of nowhere.

Suddenly, I noticed a small crack, that seemed to be getting bigger and bigger the longer I stayed down on the frozen floor.

"Crap!" I whispered as I clambered up from my lying position and start running. I felt the ground beginning to tremble as I tried to focus on finding my way home.

The piece of ice I was on was starting to break away from the main land.

I kneeled down and gripped onto the edges of the ice berg tightly. I waterbended any shards of ice that were thrown at me away.

In the distance I saw  something growing, almost as if it was rising up from the ground.

"Kya!" I heard someone call. I whipped around to see Katara and Sokka trying to make their way over to me.
