Aang's POV

I walked slowly, letting the guards guide me to my cell.

I pulled my hands apart, attempting to break free of the handcuffs that were currently enveloped around my wrists.

An idea suddenly popped into my head.

"I bet you've never fought an airbender before" I grinned.

"Be quiet" One of the guards grunted.

"I bet I could take both of you, hands tied behind my back" I smiled cheekily.

"Sure, kid." The other guard said, exchanging a laugh with his workmate.

I took a deep breath and quickly let a huge gust of wind escape my mouth, blowing the guards backwards.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to the top deck.

I popped open my glider when I remembered.

Kya.

I darted towards the door, only to be greeted by Zuko.

"Going somewhere?" He growled, flames shooting out of his knuckles.

I did a quick flip over the fire bender, using my youthful agility and airbending skills to my advantage.

I bolted down the long corridor, calling Kya's name.

Kya's POV

I hugged my knees tighter to my chest, letting the fear and anxiety take over.

I just sat in the corner of my cell, wondering if it's even worth hoping for a rescue at this stage.

Suddenly I heard footsteps running down the corridor.

"Kya!" I heard someone call.

I shot up from my sitting position.

"Aang" I breathed.

"AANG!" I said again, shouting this time.

I ran up to the cell door, pounding on it frantically.

I started to breathe heavily at the thought of getting out of here.

The large metal door made a loud creaking noise before opening.

There stood the young airbender boy, grinning at me.

I immediately pulled him into an embrace.

"Uhh, hate to ruin this moment, but we kinda gotta get out of here before the fire nation kill us" Aang said awkwardly.

I stood back.

"You're not going anywhere" Zuko snarled from the top of the hall.

"Kya, go. I'll be with you momentarily." Aang said in a mocking tone.

I nodded and charged towards the top deck.

I glanced back to see Zuko sending fireballs in all directions, and Aang just moving behind him whenever he turned.             {AN: See Gif above}

I chuckled before I felt a strong flame hit my left temple. I flew backwards, causing my head to hit off the hard deck.

I quickly bended some water onto my fingers

I winced as I placed my fingers to my head, in an attempt to heal myself.

I regretted not taking Kanna up on her offer to teach me advanced healing techniques, as my head was now only half-healed.

I glared menacingly at the guard who attacked me.

I stretched my arm out and aimed it towards the ocean. With a swift movement , I lifted the water up from the sea and froze the guard in place.

I beamed at the guard who was struggling to escape his icy prison.

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted Aang racing up to me.

"We gotta get out of here now!" He screamed.

I looked around searching for an escape. Nothing. We were surrounded by glaciers and water.

I felt a shadow on my face and glanced up to see the air bender's fluffy bison.

"Appa!" Aang called excitedly.

He stomped his glider down on the ground causing the wings to pop out.

"Hold on" He smiled as he wrapped my arms around his shoulders tightly.

We took to the skies, I laughed as the cool breeze hit my face and for once in my life I actually felt free.

We softly landed on Appa's saddle, where Katara and Sokka were waiting for us.

"Thank god you guys are okay" Katara sighed.

"Good job out there, kid." Sokka said playfully punching my arm. I smiled and hit him back.

I glanced over at the airbender who had a bitter look on his face.

"Aang, why didn't you tell us you were the avatar?" Katara asked, concerned.

I noticed how uncomfortable the bald boy was talking about the topic.

"I'm sure he'll explain it on the way to the northern water tribe" I smirked.

"What are you talking about?" Katara asked, puzzled.

"Think about it guys. Katara and I want a water bending teacher, and Aang needs to master all 4 elements to defeat the fire nation! Plus, I'd do anything to get away from here." I said

Aang beamed, liking the idea.

"I don't know about that..." Katara muttered. "It's a bit sudden, just to pick up and leave"

"Then we'll tell Kanna, then leave" I said trying to compromise.

Katara looked to me, then to Aang, and then to her brother, who all welcomed the idea of traveling.

"Well, I would love to learn the water tornado"

"Yes yes yes!" I beamed. "Thank you Katara"

We took off on Appa to inform our tribe of our departure.

As we were in the air, I felt two arms wrap around me.

I glanced down at Aang.

"What was that for?" I chuckled.

"Just to make up for earlier" He grinned.
