The footsteps slowed down as it came to a full stop. I could feel the figure standing right behind me. Rei looked up and parted away from my embrace. "J-Joji, " he said as we both stood up from the ground. I was still facing the direction opposite to where Rei was looking. "Surprise," Joji said

Stupid Joji said. His voice was deeper from when I last heard it, and it made me feel guilty that it still soothed me like it always had. "Happy Birthday, Rei," he said reaching in for a hug. I could feel Rei's body tensed up as he comes closer to him, his fist turned to a tight ball. "Fuck you" Rei muttered.

Shocked, I look at the two who were now both in front of me. "W-what?" Joji raised his brows in confusion.

Breathing heavily, Rei looked right into Joji's eyes, "you fucking heard me, didn't you?" he said in a quiet growl in anger. "You can't just come here uninvited"

"Uninvited? Wha-" Joji looked over to me and in a blink of an eye, both were on the floor, Rei throwing punches on the other man.

"Hey, stop it" I rushed towards the both of them, attempting to push them away, "please, don't do this, Rei"

Joji managed to push away and go on top of him, his hands pinned Rei's arms onto the ground. Panting he yelled, "what's wrong with you?"

Rei, uncontrollably sobbing, replied "You can't just come here like you didn't already abandon us"

"Abandoned? You two fuckers avoided me for four years!" He yelled to him, "and now I come home and you decided to greet me like this? With your ass being cuddled by my girlfriend?"

I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, "excuse me, girlfriend?" I said, shaking. "Who are you? I haven't spoken to you in years"

"It's because you fucking blocked me" his voice raised. "You two got rid of me everywhere, and you think I was the one who didn't wanna speak to you?"

I went over to Rei and helped him get up, "What was the reason for you two blocking me, huh?" Joji said, "was it because you were fucking each other the moment I was gone?" I sighed as I felt my headache slowly from the front of my face. "What are you so mad at me for?" Joji asked in genuine puzzlement. "Shouldn't I be the one screaming and beating you up? You, out of all people, stole the only person I loved."

"It's because..."

"Because what?" Joji shouted

"You never cared about her that way I did." He shouted back, in complete anger. "You never told me how lucky you are for having her, you never talked about her, you never treated her the way she deserves to be treated" Rei pushed Joji's shoulder.

"Fuck off, man. I treated you like my own fucking brother! You and I, you can't tell me how I should love! We're different."

"Don't tell me to fuck off, George. Yeah, we are different" Rei stepped closer to him, "I passed uni in New York and so did you!" he put his finger on Joji's chest, "you left y/n and I stayed with her. That's the difference" Joji was stunned, quiet, and speechless.
"and you" Rei faced and pointed a finger at me, "You're a pathetic,  sad, lonely fool. I feel so fucking stupid for ever loving you"

His words threw like a knife targeted right to my chest, he was right. Joji was nothing compared to how Rei treated me, everyday, I felt loved by him.

But, then again, what do I do if he's not the one you want love from?

"Please just... leave," Rei said, eyes bloodshot from crying.

"I'm not leaving, Rei"

"Y/N, you never came" he squeezed his cheeks forcing a smile. He took steps back turned around and went back to the house.

Now it was just me ad him as we stood under the stars and the blue sky, I haven't seen his face in detail yet, I was too afraid to look, too shy, too embarrassed. "Was that wh-" he said but I cut him off by walking out.

With eyes still on the ground, I focused on just getting home with the sole view of the street. "Y/N," he said following me, I walked faster, and faster and, faster.
"Y/N, come on"

I kept rushing away from him until he grabbed onto my arm, spinning me around to face him. "Please, just fucking listen to me" I looked at him and his stiff face softened as his eyes met with mine. Suddenly, his arms wrapped around me as his body crashed onto mine, "I missed you"

I felt the lump on my throat, gosh, I missed you too. I missed you, I was so unhappy without you, baby. I never stopped loving y-

I jolted back and threw my hand across his face, "I... fucking hate you" I said in between sobs. "I fucking hate how you controlled me and threw me promises and, and how you just came here just like that"

"and still, I'm here, as promised"

"Yeah, and I stopped loving you."

"If you stopped loving me, then why are you not with Rei right now"

"shouldn't you be mad?"

"about?"

"Me having a relationship with your best friend"

"Well, did you love him?" he asked, "Be honest with me now"

No, oh my god. I never loved him the way I loved you.

"Yes I did, and in fact, I'll do everything with all my might to have him back"

Joji's face dropped, his grip softens. "Do you mean that?"

I looked at him with eyes trying to hold back any further tears, the lump on my throat made me choke on the words I was trying to let out. come on, just say it.

"Say you love Rei and I promise, I won't talk to you again. It's that simple"
