The summer dragged on. We tried to act like a family, but Scorpius was distant. Nova and Tyler would come around pretty often to hang out, and when that happened, Scorpius would come out, too. Other than that, we saw him at mealtimes. Mum and Draco seemed to be getting along well. I had decided to give Draco a chance at being my father. I had decided to name my cat Prostásia (it's greek for Protector, original, I know).
Other than that, I had spent my time at Vans Underground (at night) or in Diagon Alley (during the day). It beat staying at home moping about Carter and Darren or wondering whether or not it'd be safe for me to reach out to Scorp alone. But I got by. I had found a cute little coffee shop in Diagon Alley that Nova and I would sometimes meet up at. Otherwise, I'd hang out there with a book. No one knew who I was, I was just a traveling witch. That's how I planned on keeping it.
Carter had tried to reach out to me a few times since the Skype incident. She called my WhatsApp at least 10 times a day; that's why I started leaving my phone at home and going to the Café. She texted me saying how sorry she was and how she had planned to stop it, but then I moved and she "just didn't". I never responded.
Darren never apologized. He didn't even really reach out. His FaceBook was still a picture of us, and it still said "In a Relationship with Olivia Jensen". I knew summer was almost over for them, and me, too. Part of me was glad he didn't reach out, cause it would've hurt all over again. But another side was angry that he didn't even try to apologize or anything.
Today I spent the day at the Café. I had my favourite book, Anna and the French Kiss, and I was daydreaming about what school would be like.
"What's a girl like you doing all alone in Diagon Alley?" A deep voice asked. I looked up to see Tyler's amused face.
"Hey! I just had to get out of the house. Sit?"
"I'd love to, but I've actually been sent to summon you."
"Me? By who?"
"Your mum and dad."
"My mum and Draco sent you to get me?"
"Well not directly..."
"So they sent Scorp but he sent you?"
"...Yeah. I'm sorry. It'll be better once we get to Hogwarts, I promise!"
"I know. It's cool." I quickly packed my book into my shoulder bag and stood up, leaving a few galleons on the table that Draco had given me for the day. "So what's up? Why am I being summoned?"
"Apparently you guys are expecting a guest for dinner."
"Are you coming?"
"Unfortunately, no. Private family affair I guess."
"Bummer." I said. We walked back through the Leaky Cauldron and into sunny London. Tyler quickly hailed a taxi and gave them the address to Malfoy Manor. The driver looked a bit scared but proceeded to route. When we got there, I paid him. As soon as Tyler and I were out of the car, he sped off. Tyler started laughing.
"I guess he's heard the stories of this place being haunted!" Tyler said, tears forming at his eyes. I laughed too.
"I guess so. Shouldn't you have stayed with him? I mean, aren't you going home?"
"I have my own means of transportation." He smiled. "Step back." I did so and he pulled out his wand and lifted it in the air. Suddenly a rush of wind swept in and there was a red double decker parked in front of us. "See ya, Liv!" He got on and the bus disappeared with another violent wind.
