Ode to a New Day

There’s a fire deep inside my being

Where certainty burns for tomorrow

Like a beacon blazing for healing

Those promises dull my dark sorrow.

That quiet right with the world

When the morning bursts into view

I hold that deep truth untold

And reach out to touch the gold hue.

I breathe for each day that will come

I believe that my Here will be There

I walk for the things still not done

I follow the ones I hold dear.

At times the storm blocks the light

And I fall on my face in the gale

But when I find again what is right

I rise high above where I’ve failed.

Because tomorrow is where I may live

And tomorrow I have not yet died

Dawn is where Possibility gives

A diamond for each tear that was cried.

So when dull gray yields to the white

I will sit on my bed wide awake

Despair and Doubt lose the fight

As I breathe my ode this new day.
