Moonshine
I look up at the moon and wonder
Is that who I am?
Am I just something for you to shine through,
Something to change?
Not all of us were meant to shine;
You were, and you did.
Now leave me in my blandness
It’s how I was made.
Compared to you, I live in darkness,
But not all dark is bad.
When tears come, we need it,
And then I am there.
You’re the light, you’re the sunshine
I’m the rock, I’m the moonshine.
By light of day all is made well
What does that make me, when it is night?
Light is good, in its place.
I’m not that place.
There is dark in every season
You’re the comfort, I’m the reason.
You shine, I glow
Your bring the light, I bring the know.
By my essence, answers are found
When its midnight they sit up off the ground
And look up at me and wonder
Why I was made to stand in front of you,
A curtain to the light
Why I don’t know who I am.
But I wiped all the tears,
I erased all the fears
With my darkness and faintness;
By myself I have greatness.
Like everything good, it has its place.
I know mine. It’s in front, where you need me.
God knew best when He made me.
