Well, I guess being the girl on fire still gets burns. Mom held her breath, and I tightly squeezed Buttercup. Then, she got hit in the knee. We could all tell on the television that it was painful, probably worse than it looked on tv. Mom had always said that burns could be the worst wounds possible. When Dad was alive, Mom would treat multiple people from the mines with burns. Some were not horrible, but others so bad, the skin would peel right off. Katniss kept running until she found a little pond. Good, I thought. At least she found a water source.
Wrong, of course.

The Careers came, including the dark haired girl. Katniss started to run, but the Careers had already caught a glimpse of her. In a unison, they started shouted, almost in laughter, and chased after her. Immediately, mom got up in left the chair, needing some time to breath. I stood still, and kept watching, and that's when I saw something terrifying.

Peeta.

He was chasing Katniss with the Careers! I almost felt like the air was knocked out of me. Meanwhile, Katniss had climbed twenty feet into a large oak tree, and just sat there.
She was cornered.
The pretty blonde girl of District 1 shot arrows at her, but missed way off. So much for training as a Career since age eight. After awhile, they gave up and made camp for the night. Katniss's wound was pretty bad. I could feel tears streaming down my face. This was all because of me. Gale came in, with his meat he hunted for us and looked around.
" Where's your mom?"
" I.. Don't know," I said, and bawled my eyes out until they were dry. Gale picked me up so effortlessly, either because I weighed nothing, or because he was so strong, and carried me to the couch in front of the tv. " What's happened so far?" Gale said, and stroked my hair gently while looking at the tv, but not as soothingly has Katniss. " Sh...She's ok." I said through sobs. " She made it out of the Cornucopia, but injured her leg. Peeta and the Careers are after her too." Gale's attention turned on completely. We just waited there in silence for a few minutes, until Gale finally spoke.

" I never like that baker kid."
I would've laughed, but I felt so dull and emotionless. Once when Gale left, I went into bed and looked at the starry night outside. Then, I did something I haven't done in a long time.

" Dad," I said, looking out the window.
" If you there, please listen. Katniss is in trouble. I,... I feel like it's all my fault. I just want her to live."

Suddenly, the darkness of sleep came over me, and I felt like I was sleeping under the stars.
