“I don’t need that child anymore! Mike’s not here so why should I bother taking care of him!”Vanessa declared gripping the sheets of the blanket at her bed.

“If you can’t! I will! Don’t involve the child at your fuming!” Sam stated.

“Okay! Do what you want! But I’ll tell you know! I have no obligation at him! I will not hold or even touch him! You take care of him yourself!” Vanessa remarked firmly not even taking a glimpse at the baby.

“Yeah! I know! I’ll take care of him as long as I live!” Sam asserted.

As the years gone by, his birthdays, first days at school and all important events in Michael’s life were all ignored by Vanessa but entirely attended and watched by Sam. Sam took the role as the mother of Michael while Vanessa focused on her work and taking jobs abroad not even minding his son bit just like she declared, she did not care about the child anymore, but then one night when Michael was six……….

“Vanessa! I’m going out for a minute! Take care of him!”Sam demanded, hurriedly wore her shoes and jacket.

“What?! Where will you go!” Vanessa questioned immediately astonished by Sam’s remarked.

“I’ll buy medicine! He has a fever!” Sam said then got out the door she shouted “ Just a while!!!! Take care of him for me!!!!”

“WHAT??!!”

Few minutes passed….

Vanessa was typing some of her paper works What’s taking her so long? She thought irritated when..

“Waah! Waah!!!”

“Oh please!” Vanessa muttered tried on continuing her work hoping the child will stop wailing but he didn’t, so she approached to his room to take a look, she touched the child’s forehead with the palm of her hands and felt it hot ”What should I do!!!”She told herself in panic while walking back and forth. The child cried louder in startled and not knowing to do she sat beside and hug him the in her arms dearly and as she hummed, then a while she glanced and heed that Michael’s asleep, she placed the blanket to him carefully and decided to watch him.

“Does your motherly instinct finally took off your stubbornness?!”Sam remarked leaning at the door watching her.

Startled by her she asked “When did you arrived?!”

“Just a while ago!” Sam answered.

“Okay! Then…..” Vanessa told her and hurriedly came back to her room “ Hey! Where are you going?!” Sam asked.

“WORK!!!”

Ever since that night Sam noticed Vanessa taking a glimpse of her son everyday mostly when their sleeping but when the day came she acts like she didn’t care a bit……

“Hehehe…!!” Sam laughed. You’re just trying to show me your resolve, but you can’t even ignore taking a look at him.
